American cable television, cable and satellite television network Freeform (TV channel), Freeform was originally launched as the CBN Satellite Service on April 29, 1977, and has gone through four different owners and six different name changes during its history. This article details the network's existence from its founding by the Christian Broadcasting Network to its current ownership by The Walt Disney Company, which renamed the network to Freeform on January 12, 2016. The Family Channel is an American general entertainment television network owned by Get After It Media (formerly Luken Communications and Reach High Media Group), and based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. History In September 2008, ValCom announced that they would purchase the assets of Faith TV, relaunching it as a more broadly-distributed family television network. On December 15, 2008, ValCom deal to purchase Faith TV closed and they relaunched Faith TV as My Family TV. On October 1, 2009, ValCom completed the purchase of the network after making its final $250,000 payment. On March 22, 2011, ValCom announced that My Family TV would become a joint venture with Luken Communications. Challenge is a British free-to-air television channel owned by Sky Group's Sky UK subsidiary, themselves owned by American conglomerate Comcast. The channel is dedicated to game shows from the UK, including acquired classic and contemporary shows. Challenge is currently available on terrestrial television and Free ad-supported streaming television, FAST platforms, such as Samsung TV Plus, along with sister channel Sky Mix. Family Channel (commonly or simply known as Family) is a Canadian English-language specialty channel owned by WildBrain Television Inc., a subsidiary of WildBrain. The network primarily airs children's television series, teen dramas, as well as other programming targeting a family audience. Despite having its own headquarters in the Brookfield Place office in Financial District, the channel is transmitted from Corus Quay. Launched on September 1, 1988, it was originally a joint venture between the owners of the premium television services First Choice (now Crave (TV network) and Superchannel (later Movie Central); due to the split of Western International Communications, the network became a joint venture between Astral Media and Corus Entertainment.
