Faiz Ahmad Faiz
Chaudhry Faiz Ahmad Faiz (13 February 1911 – 20 November 1984) was a Pakistani poet and author of Punjabi language, Punjabi and Urdu literature. Faiz was one of the most celebrated, popular, and influential Urdu writers of his time, and his works and ideas remain widely influential in Pakistan and beyond. Outside of literature, he has been described as "a man of wide experience", having worked as a teacher, military officer, journalist, trade unionist, and broadcaster. Born in the Punjab Province (British India), Punjab Province, Faiz studied at Government College, Lahore, Government College and Oriental College in Lahore and went on to serve in the British Indian Army. A poet is a person who studies and creates poetry. Poets may describe themselves as such or be described as such by others. A poet may simply be the creator (thought, thinker, songwriter, writer, or author) who creates (composes) poems (oral tradition, oral or literature, written), or they may also performance, perform their art to an audience. Sultan Muhammad Khan
Chaudhry Sultan Muhammad Khan had a unique association with imperial Afghanistan while being a British Indian subject, as an advisor to King Abdur Rahman Khan, record-keeper and translator to/from English and later, ambassador of Afghanistan to the United Kingdom. He was the father of author, poet, educator and revolutionary Faiz Ahmad Faiz. Biography Studying part-time, he finished middle school in 1873 placing top in the examinations and earned a high school scholarship of two rupees a month from the Education Department of the Government of Punjab. A polyglot, he was fluent in Urdu, Punjabi, Persian, Arabic, English, Pashto and Russian, which would help him for his later career. Shoaib Hashmi
Shoaib Hashmi (; 12 July 1938 – 15 May 2023) was a Pakistani playwright, actor and academic. Career Hashmi received his Master of Arts degree in economics from Government College, Lahore (now Government College University), Lahore and his MSc. degree from London School of Economics (LSE), London He also studied theater at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London. Hashmi taught economics for many years at Government College (now Government College University), Lahore and later taught at Lahore School of Economics. Moneeza Hashmi (; born 1946) is a broadcaster, television producer, actress and a former general manager and director programmes of the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). Hashmi has over four decades of experience working with public media. She is the Trustee of Faiz Foundation Trust, Pakistan and main organizer of Faiz Festival Lahore. She is the younger daughter of the prominent Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Alys Faiz
Alys Faiz (Urdu:; September 1915 – 12 March 2003) was a Pakistani poet, writer, journalist, human rights activist, social worker and a teacher. Alys was born in London, but she later became a naturalized citizen of Pakistan. She was the wife of Faiz Ahmad Faiz and the mother of Salima Hashmi and Muneeza Hashmi. Early life Alys George was the daughter of a London bookseller, and she joined the Communist Party as a teenager. She and her sister, Christobel, were active in leftist circles in the 1930s and were close to Indian intellectuals based in London. Rawalpindi Conspiracy
The Rawalpindi conspiracy was an attempted coup to overthrow Liaquat Ali Khan, the first prime minister of Pakistan, in March 1951. It was the first of many subsequent coup attempts against governments in the history of Pakistan.
