Fairground Park is a urban park, municipal park that opened in 1908 in St. Louis, Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri. Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is a motorsport racetrack located at the Nashville Fairgrounds near downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The track is the second-oldest continually operating track in the United States. The track held NASCAR Grand National/Winston Cup (now NASCAR Cup Series) races from 1958 to 1984. Track configuration The speedway is currently an 18 degree banked paved oval. The track is long. Inside the larger oval is a paved oval. The track was converted to a paved oval in 1957, when it began to be a NASCAR series track. The speedway was lengthened between the 1969 and 1970 seasons. The corners were cut down from 35 degrees to their present 18 degrees in 1972. The track was repaved between the 1995 and 1996 seasons. Fair Grounds Race Course, often known as New Orleans Fair Grounds, is a thoroughbred racetrack and racino in New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana. It is operated by Churchill Downs Louisiana Horseracing Company, LLC. The ''Carrollton Race Course'' was completed in 1837 and advertised in Times Picayune, The Picayune, holding two races on March 14, 1837, under The Louisiana Jockey Club. In 1838 Bernard de Marigny, Julius C Branch and Henry Augustine Tayloe, organized races at the ''Louisiana'' or ''Carrollton'' Race Course, laid out on Gentilly Road, making it the second oldest site of horseracing in America still in operation, after Freehold Raceway and before the Saratoga Race Course. Pete Lesperance is a Canadian guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer best known as the lead guitarist for the Canadian hard rock band Harem Scarem. Lesperance was born October 13, 1968, in Scarborough, Ontario. Lesperance was a guitarist in the Oshawa metal band Minotaur before forming Harem Scarem with Blind Vengeance vocalist Harry Hess in 1987. Lesperance's solo album, ''Down In It'', was released in 2004 in Japan only, where Harem Scarem had their main fanbase. With fellow guitarist Mike Turner (ex-Our Lady Peace), they put together the band Fair Ground. Together they released a new version of ''Down In It''. Lesperance's own studio, Hope Songs, is located in Toronto, Ontario. Lesperance has produced many bands, including the rock band One Short. He is currently finishing up albums for Canadian Idol contestants Aaron Walpole and Suzi Rawn. His influences include Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, Nuno Bettencourt and Steve Vai. "Fairground" is a song by British soul and pop band Simply Red, released on 18 September 1995 by East West Records as the first single from the band's fifth album, ''Life'' (1995). Co-written and co-produced by frontman Mick Hucknall, the song makes extensive use of a sample of the Goodmen's 1993 hit " Give It Up". It became Simply Red's first and only 1 single on the UK Singles Chart, staying at the top for four weeks in September and October 1995, and was a chart hit in mainland Europe and Australia, but it failed to generate long-term success in North America. ''Strip-mine'' is the second studio album by English rock band James. It was released on 26 September 1988, through Sire and Blanco y Negro Records. After minimal touring and lack of success for their debut studio album ''Stutter'' (1986), the label was apprehensive about letting them record another album. Sessions for it were held in early 1987 at Rockfield Studios with Hugh Jones producing the majority of the album, except for "Are You Ready", which produced by Steve Power and Steve Lovell. After the recording, the release was delayed a number of times, until it was eventually remixed early the following year at London's Battery Studios. Described as a folk-pop album, the songs on ''Strip-mine'' tackled the topics of misinformation, addiction, and human mortality.
