Gas exchange is the physical process by which gases move passively by diffusion across a surface. For example, this surface might be the air/water interface of a water body, the surface of a gas bubble in a liquid, a gas-permeable membrane, or a biological membrane that forms the boundary between an organism and its extracellular environment. Gases are constantly consumed and produced by cellular and metabolic reactions in most living things, so an efficient system for gas exchange between, ultimately, the interior of the cell(s) and the external environment is required. Gerald O'Brien is a Canadian-born songwriter and composer. Music In 1988, O’Brien and friend/keyboardist Steve Sexton teamed up to form the instrumental duo "Exchange", as they share an interest in instrumental music and TV and film scoring. Their first album ''Into The Night'' was released in 1989 on Passport Records in New York and remains one of their most successful albums. Their second album, ''Between Places'', appeared on Billboard's Top 10 World Music Charts. They released four more albums in the 1990s. Steve Sexton is a Canadian composer, arranger, musical director, producer and keyboardist. He served as Canadian singer Anne Murray's Musical Director for 25 years with responsibilities as her pianist, conductor, arranger, and on occasion her producer. Early career Sexton was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Richmond Hill High School and received a music degree from The University of Western Ontario and a performance degree from the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music. He was a member of the Canadian rock band, Red Rider, from 1982 to 1984 and appears as keyboardist on their albums '' Breaking Curfew'' and ''Neruda''. In chess, the exchange is a situation in which one player exchanges a (i.e. a bishop or knight) for a rook. The side which wins the rook is said to have ''won the exchange'', while the other player has ''lost the exchange'', since the rook is usually more valuable. In chess, an exchange or trade of chess pieces is a series of closely related moves, typically sequential, in which the two players each other's pieces. Any types of pieces except the kings may possibly be exchanged, i.e. captured in an exchange, although a king can capture an opponent's piece.
