Europa FC is a professional association football, football club from Gibraltar that competes in the Gibraltar National League. As other clubs in the territory, Europa FC currently shares the Victoria Stadium (Gibraltar), Victoria Stadium on Winston Churchill Avenue, Gibraltar, Winston Churchill Avenue. The club also operates a Europa F.C. Women, women's team which competes in the Gibraltar Women's Football League. History The club was founded in 1925. It was continuously active up to 1970. The club merged with College in the 1980s, going by College Cosmos until 2013, and in 2015 split again from College, changing from College Europa back to Europa FC, while College 1975 F.C., College 1975 entered the Gibraltar Second Division. The name change was cleared by UEFA and the Gibraltar Football Association has granted back the honours the club lost when it folded initially. Victoria Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Gibraltar. It is currently used mostly for Association football, football matches, but also hosts the annual Gibraltar Music Festival. It is located close to Gibraltar Airport just off Winston Churchill Avenue, Gibraltar, Winston Churchill Avenue. It was named after the wife of Gibraltarian people, Gibraltarian philanthropist John Mackintosh (philanthropist), John Mackintosh. The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, known as the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, Equatorial Guinea 2015 for sponsorship reasons, was the 30th staging of the Africa Cup of Nations, the international men's football championship of Africa. It was organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and was held from 17 January to 8 February 2015. The tournament was initially scheduled to be hosted by Morocco who later demanded postponement of the event because of the Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa; subsequently Morocco was ruled out as a host country and replaced by Equatorial Guinea. Rock Cup
The Rock Cup is Gibraltar's premier cup football competition, and is organized annually by the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA). From 1894/95 Gibraltar's Cup Competition was known as "The Senior Merchant's Cup". In 1935 a new trophy was presented, to the Gibraltar Football Association by the Merchants, Traders and Hotels of Gibraltar and thus the Rock Cup, as it is known today, was born. The winner of the 2014 Rock Cup was to be the first one to participate in the Europa League, but as Lincoln Red Imps had already been titled league champion, thus qualifying for 2014–15 UEFA Champions League, the losing finalist College Europa qualified for the first qualifying round. Gibraltar Premier Division
The Gibraltar Premier Division was a football league established by the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) in 1905, and the top tier of football in Gibraltar. It originally contained eight member clubs, but it has grown over the years. In 1909 the league was split into two divisions between which clubs can be promoted and relegated at the end of each season. In the 2013–14 season, the Premier Division contained eight clubs with the Second Division containing 12 clubs. For sponsorship reasons it is known as the Argus Insurance Premier Division. From the 2014–15 season, as a result of the territory's membership of UEFA, the champions entered the first UEFA Champions League qualifying round. 2017 Rock Cup
The 2017 Rock Cup was a single-leg knockout tournament played by clubs from Gibraltar. This year's version of the Rock Cup was sponsored by Gibtelecom, and was known as the Gibtelecom Rock Cup for sponsorship purposes. The winner of this competition ( Europa) qualified for the 2017–18 Europa League. Since they won the 2016–17 Gibraltar Premier Division, the spot reserved for the cup winner went to the third place team from the league instead.
