Essential Records is a contemporary Christian music, contemporary Christian record label based in Franklin, Tennessee. It is a division of the major label Sony Music Nashville. History It was established in 1992 and acquired by Brentwood Music in 1993. The label's first big hit release was "Flood (Jars of Clay song), Flood" by Jars of Clay in 1996. The song was a hit on mainstream radio before hitting on Christian formats; it reached No. 12 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and appeared in the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Today it is part of the Sony Music Nashville, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. Ruby Joe
Ruby Joe was a Christian band from Ventura, California. Their debut album was cited as psychobilly, but their second played squarely as swing revival due to the appearance of the horn section of Royal Crown Revue. Both were released on Sub•Lime Records, in 1998 and 1999. The bands' name is a combination of the founder's name and that of Ruby's Diner in Huntington Beach, where the band was formed. Background Prior to Ruby Joe, Greg Russinger and Joe Baugh played in a band called Strugglefish. Russinger was a youth pastor at Horizon Foursquare Church, Ventura, CA. In 1996 the band gained the bass talents of Amber Reeves and the drumming of Christina Hock, forming an all-female rhythm section. Tauren Gabriel Wells (born April 7, 1986) is an American Contemporary Christian music singer and pastor from Houston, Texas. Wells was the frontman of former Christian band Royal Tailor. After the group's disbandment in 2015, he released ''Undefeated EP'' in 2016, followed by his first studio album ''Hills and Valleys'', released in June 2017.
