Eluru ( ) is a city and the district headquarters of Eluru district in the States and union territories of India, Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the List of municipal corporations in India#Andhra Pradesh, 14 municipal corporations in the state and the Tehsil, mandal headquarters of Eluru mandal in the Eluru revenue division. Situated on the banks of the Tammileru, Tammileru River, Eluru is strategically positioned in the southeastern part of Andhra Pradesh. It was historically known as Helapuri. Eluru District
Eluru district is a district in coastal Andhra Region in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. With Eluru as its administrative headquarters, it was proposed on 26 January 2022 to become one of the resultant List of districts of Andhra Pradesh, twenty six districts in the state once a final notification is issued by the government of Andhra Pradesh. It is formed from Eluru revenue division and Jangareddygudem revenue division from West Godavari district and Nuzvid revenue division from Krishna district. Eluru revenue division (or Eluru division) is an administrative division in the Eluru district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the 3 revenue divisions in the district which consists of 13 mandals under its administration. Eluru city is the divisional headquarters. The present sixteen mandals became part of the division on 25 May 1985. Demographics census, the division has a total population of 1,471,367. It includes, 735,180 males and 736,187 females. Eluru mandal is one of the 28 mandals in Eluru district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is administered under Eluru revenue division and its headquarters are located at Eluru city. Eluru Buddha Park
Gaja Vallivari Cheruvu is one of the ancient ponds in the history of Helapuri town (the ancient name of Eluru city). During the Chalukyan period, elephants used to drink water from this pond. Eluru is the former capital of the Vengi Dynasty. Between 11A.D.
