Eastern F.C.
Eastern Football Club was a 19th-century football club based in Glasgow, Scotland. It was one of the founder members of the Scottish Football Association (SFA) and one of the sixteen teams to participate in the inaugural season of the Scottish Cup. History Eastern was formed in 1872 by members of the original Thistle club. The club's first game, at Fleshers' Haughs, took place on 25 January 1873, against a Celtic football club, and ended in a 4–0 win to Eastern, although the Celtic goalkeeper claimed the score was merely 3–0. Eastern were one of the eight clubs that agreed to form the SFA in March that year. Eastern participated in Scottish Cup tournaments between 1873–74 and 1876–77, reaching the quarter-finals on the first two occasions; its run in 1874–75 included a 3–0 win over Kilmarnock, despite thoughts that the Eastern "hardly played with its usual fettle". Barrowfield Park was a football ground in the Bridgeton / Dalmarnock area of Glasgow, Scotland. It was the home ground of Eastern during the 1870s and Clyde between 1877 and 1898. Peter Andrews (footballer)
Peter Andrews (10 November 1845 – 24 July 1916) was a Scottish footballer, who played for Callander, Glasgow Eastern, Sheffield Heeley and Scotland. It is thought that Andrews was the first Scottish player to move to England to play football, although he moved for reasons of work rather than football itself as professionalism had not yet been established. John Hunter (Third Lanark Footballer)
John Hunter (1854 – 2 November 1881) was a Scottish footballer who played for Third Lanark, Glasgow Eastern and Scotland (four caps). He played on the losing side in the Scottish Cup finals of 1876 and 1878, and made several representative appearances for Glasgow. After retiring as a player, Hunter coached Linthouse. His younger brothers Archie and Andy both played for Aston Villa, Archie being one of the club's most noted early players.
