''Earthlings'' is a 2005 American documentary film about humanity's use of non-human animals as pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and for scientific research. The film is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, features music by Moby, and was directed by Shaun Monson, executive produced by Libra Max and co-produced by Maggie Q. A sequel titled '' Unity'' was released in 2015. Synopsis Covering factory farms, pet stores, puppy mills, animal experimentation, ''Earthlings'' includes footage obtained through the use of hidden cameras to chronicle the day-to-day practices of some of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely on animals. Then, the film draws parallels between speciesism and racism, sexism, and more. The Earthlings
The Earthlings is a musical collaboration between British-born Marucs Hill & Paul Burgess performing an unusual blend of acoustic music incorporating humour and character based lyrics. Early years Both Hill & Burgess attended Bishop Luffa secondary school in Chichester and when they met in the late 1980s it was clear they shared a similar sense of humour. It was in 1990 that Nuclear Freakout was formed along with fellow school friend Robert Thurston. Thurston left the following year and it was Hill & Burgess along with other school friends that continued under the Freakout banner. Much of Freakout's music was based on recorded improvisations between Hill & Burgess but also included recordings of various line-ups of school friends. They released a tape of demos in 1991 & two albums. 'Rub me up the wrong way' in 1995 which drew from material recorded between 1990–94 and the follow-up 'Rub me up the right way' in 1996. Peter Marc Stahl is an American musician best known for fronting the Virginia-based punk/ hardcore band Scream with his brother Franz. Early on, Scream also featured Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums who credited Pete Stahl as the inspiration for the song "My Hero" for his tutelage. Stahl later went on to form Wool with his brother in the 1990s, and also has sung for Goatsnake and Earthlings?. He also worked for The Viper Room in Los Angeles, and contributed to the Sunn O))) album ''ØØ Void'', and was featured on Orquesta del Desierto, a series of albums written about the desert. Stahl has also contributed to volumes 1 to 4 of Josh Homme's musical collaborative series The Desert Sessions, and toured with Queens of the Stone Age from 1998 to 1999 to perform these songs in addition to doing backing vocals for various songs by Queens of the Stone Age. Sayaka Murata
Sayaka Murata (村田沙耶香 ''Murata Sayaka''; born August 14, 1979) is a Japanese writer. She has won the Gunzo Prize for New Writers, the Mishima Yukio Prize, the Noma Literary New Face Prize, and the Akutagawa Prize. Biography Murata was born in Inzai, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in 1979. Her father was a judge, her mother a housewife. Murata has said she did not have a happy childhood. She started writing stories at age 10. As a child, she often read science fiction and mystery novels borrowed from her brother and mother, and her mother bought her a word processor after she attempted to write a novel by hand in the fourth grade of elementary school. After Murata completed middle school in Inzai, her family moved to Tokyo, where she graduated from Kashiwa High School (attached to Nishogakusha University) and studied art curation at Tamagawa University. Earthling is an English trip hop band from Bristol, England. Members * Mau, rapper * Tim Saul, producer Contributor * Andy Keep, multi-instrumentalist Work The group produced two albums before splitting: 1995's ''Radar'' (with scratching, on three tracks, by Portishead's Geoff Barrow) and 1997's ''Human Dust'' (unreleased until 2004). The group had moderate success, appearing on '' Later... with Jools Holland'' and being remixed by Portishead. They had a number 1 single in Israel.
