Doon (lai)
"Doon" is an anonymous Breton lai that tells the story of a knight, Doon, who must pass certain tests to win the hand of a maiden. They marry; but he returns to France alone. He is later reunited with the lady thanks to their grown son, whom he recognizes after dueling him at a tournament. This lai is very similar to "Milun" by Marie de France. Composition and manuscripts "Doon"'s date of composition is estimated around the beginning of the 13th century. The lai is contained one existing manuscript: Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, nouv. acq. fr. 1104, f. 15v, col. 1. This manuscript dates from the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th century. The text is written in Francien language, Francien with some Norman language, Norman and Picard language, Picard influences. Doon GAA
Doon GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, founded in 1888. It is based in the village of Doon in County Limerick, Ireland. The club is part of the East Division of the Limerick GAA and has a tremendous record at underage level and in 2024 has won its first County Senior Hurling Championship. The club only plays hurling, but footballers in the parish play with neighbouring Oola Location The club is located in the parish of Doon, mostly in County Limerick but also containing a few townlands in County Tipperary; these can play with the other club in the parish, Glengar, which is affiliated to the Tipperary GAA County Board. As Oola is only a football club, hurlers from the parish play with Doon. The club is roughly 30 km east of Limerick City. The Doon School (informally Doon School or Doon) is a Selective school, selective all-boys Private school, private boarding school in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, which was established in 1935. It was envisioned by Satish Ranjan Das, a lawyer from Calcutta, as a school modelled on the British public school (United Kingdom), public school while remaining conscious of Indian ambitions and desires. The school admitted its first pupils on 10 September 1935, and formally opened on 27 October 1935, with Lord Willingdon presiding over the ceremony. The school's first headmaster was Arthur Foot, Arthur E. Foot, an English educationalist who had spent nine years as a science master at Eton College, England. Doon University
Doon University () is a state public university located in Dehradun in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand. History The university was founded by order of the Government of Uttarakhand in October 2005. Its first courses started in July 2009. Campus Doon University's campus is around eight kilometers from Dehradun, in the foothills of the Shivalik range and on the banks of the Rispana river. The Doon River is a river in Fiordland, in the Southland Region of New Zealand. It arises near Mount Donald and flows south-east into the south-west arm of Lake Te Anau.
