Donnersbergkreis
The Donnersbergkreis is a district (''Kreis'') in the middle of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are Bad Kreuznach, Alzey-Worms, Bad Dürkheim, Kaiserslautern, Kusel. History The district was created in 1969 by merging the districts Kirchheimbolanden and Rockenhausen. Geography The district is located around the highest mountain of the Palatinate, the ''Donnersberg'' with 687 m above sea level. Coat of arms Both of the districts merged into the Donnersbergkreis had a wheel in their coat of arms, which are now also shown in the coat of arms of the new district. On the left is the red wheel of the Lords of Bolanden, taken from the Kirchheim coat of arms. Eisenberg, Rhineland-Palatinate
Eisenberg () is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Eisenberg is the seat of the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") Eisenberg. The name indicates ancient iron mining (Eisen = iron; -berg = hill/mountain). Even more important is the extraction of clay and ''Klebsand''. Geography Location Eisenberg is located in the North Palatinate in the south-eastern part of Donnersbergkreis district of which it is the largest municipality by population. Worms is about 25 km (16 mi) to the north-east, Kaiserslautern 30 km (19 mi) to the west and Mannheim 40 km (25 mi) to the south-east. Neighbouring municipalities are Kerzenheim, Ebertsheim, Tiefenthal, Hettenleidelheim, Wattenheim and Ramsen. Rüssingen
Rüssingen is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography The municipality is located between Kaiserslautern and Worms around 4 km (2.5 mi) east of Göllheim. The landscape is part of the Alzey Hills. In the northeast of the district the ''Zollstock'' hill is located. 80.5% of Rüssingen's area are used for agriculture. Ottersheim
Ottersheim is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography The village is situated in the North Palatinate, northern part of the Palatinate (region), Palatinate about 20 km (13 mi) west of Worms, Germany, Worms and 40 km (25 mi) east of Kaiserslautern. Albisheim
Albisheim is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is part of the Zellertal region. Geography The village is located in the part of the Pfrimm Valley, known as ''Zellertal'', which forms part of the Alzey Hills. Neighbouring municipalities are Stetten, Einselthum, Zellertal, Immesheim, Rüssingen, Marnheim and Gauersheim. Kirchheimbolanden
Kirchheimbolanden is the capital and the second largest city of the Donnersbergkreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate. Situated in south-western Germany, it is approximately 25 km west of Worms, Germany, Worms, and 30 km north-east of Kaiserslautern. The first part of the name, ''Kirchheim'', dates back to 774. It became a town in 1368, and the Sponheim family improved its security with many towers and walls. Zellertal
Zellertal is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The villages of , Harxheim and Niefernheim form Zellertal. Zellertal is located in the eponymous region, which in turn is part of the Palatinate wine region and borders on the Rhenish Hesse wine region. Lautersheim is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography The village is located in the North Palatinate between Kaiserslautern and Worms.
