Defense Independent Pitching Statistics
In baseball, fielding independent pitching (FIP) (also referred to as defense independent pitching (DIP)) is intended to measure a pitcher's effectiveness based only on statistics that do not involve fielders (except the catcher). These include home runs allowed, strikeouts, hit batters, walks, and, more recently, fly ball percentage, ground ball percentage, and (to a much lesser extent) line drive percentage. By focusing on these statistics and ignoring what happens once a ball is put in play, which – on most plays – the pitcher has little control over, DIP claims to offer a clearer picture of the pitcher's true ability. The most controversial part of DIP is the idea that pitchers have little influence over what happens to balls that are put into play. Dip (exercise)
A dip is an upper-body strength exercise. Close grip dips primarily train the triceps, with major synergists being the anterior deltoid, the pectoralis muscles, and the rhomboid muscles of the back. Wide shoulder width dips place additional emphasis on the pectoral muscles, similar in respect to the way a wide grip bench press would focus more on the pectorals and less on the triceps. Modern meaning To perform a dip, the exerciser supports themselves on a dip bar with their arms straight down and shoulders over their hands, then lowers their body until their arms are bent to a 90-degree angle at the elbows, and then lifts their body up, returning to the starting position. Variation Usually dips are done on a dip bar, with the exerciser's hands supporting their entire body weight. Washington Diplomats
The Washington Diplomats were an American soccer club representing Washington, D.C. Throughout their playing existence, the club played their home games at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium and indoor home matches at the neighboring D.C. Armory. Founded as an expansion franchise in 1974, the Diplomats competed in the now-defunct North American Soccer League, then the top-tier soccer league of the American soccer pyramid. Plagued with mediocrity in their first few seasons of existence, the Diplomats did not qualify for the playoffs until 1976, their third year in the league. ''Dips'' is a Swedish comedy series by Jesper Rönndahl and Marie Agerhäll. It was produced by APAB for SVT. All episodes of the first season were published on SVT Play on 24 December 2018. The series is about the " dips" in-training Jens Stråhle (Jesper Rönndahl) and Fanny Båtsman ( Moa Lundqvist), who are interns at the Protocol Division at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and their mentor Mimmi Hamillton (Marie Agerhäll). Frequently appearing is also the administration director-general Hendrik Tür ( Kristian Luuk). According to the creators Jesper Rönndahl and Marie Agerhäll, much in the series is based on reality and material they have got when they have both "gone undercover and interviewed people on both the floor and at the top secretly".
