Dendronotidae
Dendronotidae is a family of sea slugs, nudibranchs, marine gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Dendronotoidea. This family is within the clade Cladobranchia (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). Description Animals within this family have elongated bodies with numerous branching cerata on their dorsal sides. The cerata contain extensions from the digestive gland which vary in extent between species. The head has an oral veil having branching extensions. The lamellate rhinophores are surrounded by a sheath and branched extensions.Korshunova, T., Bakken, T., Grøtan, V.V., Johnson, K.B., Lundin, K. & Martynov, A., 2020A synoptic review of the family Dendronotidae (Mollusca: Nudibranchia): a multilevel organismal diversity approach.Contributions to Zoology. 1–61. Dendronotus Albus
''Dendronotus albus'' is a species of sea slug, a dendronotid nudibranch, a shell-less marine gastropod mollusc in the family Dendronotidae.Bouchet, P. (2015)''Dendronotus albus''.In: MolluscaBase (2015). Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species on 2016-01-26. Distribution This species was described from shallow water at Point Pinos, Monterey Bay, California, United States. It has been reported from the west coast of North America from Alaska to Baja California, Mexico. Taxonomic history Robilliard correctly recognised that there were two species of ''Dendronotus'' in the NE Pacific and described ''Dendronotus diversicolor'' as a new species. ''D. albus'' and ''D. diversicolor'' were synonymised by Stout et al., 2010, probably because the specimens they studied did not include both species. In fact Robilliard consistently used the name ''D. albus'' for '' Dendronotus robilliardi'' and redescribed the true ''D. albus'' as ''D. diversicolor''.Korshunova T., Sanamyan ...
