Defensor Sporting
Defensor Sporting Club is a sports club based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Founded in 1913, Defensor has several sports sections, with football and basketball being the most important and the ones in which the club has achieved significant achievements in Uruguay and internationally. It is the third most highest winning club in Uruguay, with 24 official titles, only surpassed by Peñarol and Club Nacional de Football. The club's best performance at the international stage was in 2014, when they reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores, eventually losing to Club Nacional 2–1 on aggregate. They have won the Uruguayan Championship four times: in 1976, 1987, 1991, and 2007-08. Their 1976 title win was especially notable in Uruguay's football history as it ended 44 years of dominance by Nacional and Peñarol. Estadio Luis Franzini
The Estadio Luis Franzini (or Luis Franzini Stadium) is an outdoor football (soccer), football stadium located in Montevideo, Uruguay. The stadium's maximum capacity is 16,000 people, and it is the home ground of Defensor Sporting. The stadium was closed during the 1997 season for renovations. It reopened on 16 August 1998 with the name ''Nuevo Estadio Luis Franzini''. Renovations included a seating capacity increase and leveling of the playing area. Previously, the land sloped to the west, toward the Rio de la Plata. Maxi Pereira
Victorio Maximiliano "Maxi" Pereira Páez (; born 8 June 1984) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as a right-back. He played with Defensor in Uruguay, joining Benfica in 2007 and going on to remain with the club for eight seasons, appearing in 333 official matches and winning 11 major titles. In 2015, he signed with Porto also in Portugal. Martín Cáceres
José Martín Cáceres Silva (; born 7 April 1987) is an Uruguayan professional footballer for Paraguayan Primera División club Libertad. Mainly a centre-back, he can also play on either flank, mostly as a right-back. After starting out at Defensor Sporting, he was bought by Spanish club Villarreal in 2007. Diego Fernando Pérez Aguado (; born 18 May 1980), nicknamed ''"Ruso"'' (Spanish for ''"Russian"''), is a Uruguayan football manager and former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Gonzalo Sebastián Vargas Abella (born 22 September 1981) is a Uruguayan former football striker. He last played for Rampla Juniors. Vargas is nicknamed ''Turbo'' because of his explosive dribbles and high speed sprints. Darío Debray Silva Pereira (born 2 November 1972) is a Uruguayan retired professional footballer who played as a striker. After making a name for himself in his country and in Italy with Cagliari, he spent the following seven years of his career in Spain – scoring 48 La Liga goals in 163 games, mostly for Málaga – before moving to England.
