The Mangla Dam () is a multipurpose dam situated on the Jhelum River, lying in the Mirpur District of Pakistan administered Azad Kashmir and the Jhelum District in Punjab, Pakistan, Punjab, Pakistan. The Jhelum River is a major river in South Asia, flowing through India and Pakistan, and is the westernmost of the five major rivers of the Punjab region. Akra Kaur Dam
Akra Kaur Dam, sometimes also referred to as Ankara Kaur Dam, is located near Gawadar in Balochistan, Pakistan. The dam was constructed in 1995 at a cost of $24 million to supply water to Gawadar and adjoining villages. It is the sole source of water supply to residents of the Gwadar District area. The dam contains a volume of water equal to 17,025 acre-feet, (21,000 megalitres), to provide 1.62 million gallons daily. The dam's dead storage level is 27 metres, below which is 5,270 acre-feet of water, and its live storage level maximum is 32 metres. As of February 2018, it has silted up to 26.3 metres, and the government is investigating a de-silting operation. In 2005, torrential rain in the area caused an overflow from the dam, inundating a number of villages and claiming at least 20 lives. Poonch River
The Poonch River (also known as Punch River, Punch Tohi, Pulast, and Tohi of Punch) is a tributary of the Jhelum River that flows through Jammu and Kashmir in India, and Azad Kashmir in Pakistan. Name According to Georg Bühler, the ancient form of the word Tohi is Taushi mentioned in the Rājataraṅgiṇī and the Nīlamata Purāṇa. In the latter work, Āpagā (Aik Nala of Sialkot), Tauśī and Candrabhāgā are named together. Probably, the word is connected with the Sanskrit ''tuṣāra'', 'cold', i.e. 'snow'. A gravity dam is a dam constructed from concrete or stone masonry and designed to hold back water by using only the weight of the material and its resistance against the foundation. Gravity dams are designed so that each section of the dam is stable and independent of any other dam section. Neelum–Jhelum Hydropower Plant
The Neelum–Jhelum Hydropower Plant is part of a run-of-the-river hydroelectric power project in Pakistan administered Kashmir, designed to divert water from the Neelum River to a power station on the Jhelum River. The power station is located south of Muzaffarabad, and has an installed capacity of 969 MW. Construction on the project began in 2008 after a Chinese consortium was awarded the construction contract in July 2007. After many years of delays, the first generator was commissioned in April 2018 and the entire project was completed in August 2018 when the fourth and last unit was synchronized with the national grid on 13 August and attained its maximum generation capacity of 969 MW on 14 August 2018. It will generate 5,150 GWh (gigawatt hour) per year at the levelised tariff of Rs 13.50 per unit for 30 years.
