Dalhousie Goby
The Dalhousie goby (''Chlamydogobius gloveri'') is a species of goby Endemism, endemic to Australia where it lives in the Dalhousie Springs. This species can reach a fish measurement, standard length of . It feeds on small molluscs, crustaceans and other odds and ends like most other gobies. Etymology The scientific name "Chlamydogobius gloveri" is derived from the Greek word "chlamys" meaning cloak, whilst the word "gobius" is defined as Gudgeon (fish), gudgeon in Latin.> The second half of the species is named "gloveri" in honour of the late John Glover (zoologist), John Glover, a former Curator of Fishes at the South Australian Museum, who worked extensively on desert gobies and other taxa of fishes found in the deserts of Australia. Dalhousie Springs
Dalhousie Springs, also known as Witjira-Dalhousie Springs, is a group of over 60 natural artesian springs located in Witjira National Park on the western fringe of the Simpson Desert, 180 kilometres northeast of Oodnadatta in northern South Australia. They are about southeast of Alice Springs. History The springs form part of Aboriginal tradition and life in northern South Australia, being a place associated with many Dreamtime stories and songs. Evidence of large camp sites are found at the Springs, some of which are thousands of square metres in size, and there are many stone artefacts found scattered around the area. The springs were given their English name by surveyor Richard Randall Knuckey around 1870, when he was working on the Overland Telegraph Line. In 1915, the total flow rate of the Dalhousie Springs complex was over , but drilling had reduced this to by 2000. Binoy-Badal-Dinesh Bagh, shortened as B. B. D. Bagh, formerly called Tank Square and then Dalhousie Square (1847 to 1856), is the administrative, financial and commercial region and one of the central business districts of Kolkata (Calcutta), capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Dalhousie Cantonment
Dalhousie cantonment is a town in Dalhousie, just 50 km from Chamba town in Chamba district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. History In 1851, the British Government approached the Chamba State authorities to set up a sanatorium for Europeans. The state cooperated fully, and a site was chosen on the western edge of the Dhauladhar range by Colonel Napier (later Lord Napier of Magdala). After studying the climate, the Government approved the plan in 1853 and transferred five plateaux from Chamba State—Katalagh, Potrain, Terah, Bakrota, and Bhangor—for this purpose. In return, the annual tribute paid by Chamba was reduced by ₹2,000. Dalhousie Ward (pronounced or ) is a former ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was created in 1888 when it was annexed by Ottawa from Nepean Township, becoming Ottawa's eighth ward. Port Dalhousie is a community in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Known for its waterfront appeal, it is home to the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and is historically significant as the terminus for the first three (19th century) routes of the Welland Canal, built in 1820, 1845 and 1889. Activities The city's most popular beach, on the shore of Lake Ontario, is located in Port Dalhousie at historic Lakeside Park. It is bounded to the north by John Laurie Boulevard, to the east by Shaganappi Trail, to the south by Crowchild Trail and to the west by Sarcee Trail.
