Côte d'Azur University () is a ''grand établissement'' located in Nice, France, and neighboring areas. In 2019, it replaced the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis and the community (ComUE) that was created in 2013. On 9 January 2020, Jeanick Brisswalter was elected as president of Côte d'Azur University. The University of Nice Sophia Antipolis was founded in 1965 and organised in eight faculties, two autonomous institutes and one engineering school. It was merged in 2019 into the Côte d'Azur University. It has nearly 30,000 students in initial and continuing education, including 20% foreign students, and eight University and Research Schools (EUR). Its university campuses are located in several cities of the Alpes-Maritimes department (Nice, Cannes, Grasse, Menton) as well as Sophia Antipolis technology park. Yukiya Amano
was a Japanese diplomat, who served as the Director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 1 December 2009 until his death on 18 July 2019. Previously, Amano served as an international civil servant for the United Nations and its subdivisions. Early life Amano was born on 9 May 1947 in Yugawara, a town in Kanagawa near the Tokyo metropolitan area. He started his studies at the University of Tokyo in 1968. After graduating from the Faculty of Law, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in April 1972. He specialized in the international disarmament issue and nuclear nonproliferation efforts. Rosella Hightower (January 10, 1920 – November 4, 2008) was an American ballerina and member of the Choctaw Nation. One of the Five Moons, she achieved fame in both the United States and Europe, and later enjoyed a career as an instructor and opera director. The Nice Observatory () is an astronomical observatory located in Nice, France on the summit of Mount Gros. The observatory was founded in 1879, by the banker Raphaël Bischoffsheim.
