Cyclone Preparedness Programme is a disaster management program of the Government and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in Bangladesh and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The program is under the management of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. History The program was developed to work as an early warning system in coastal Bangladesh in 1973 by President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The program has been credited with saving thousands of lives. The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (also abbreviated as BDRCS) is a humanitarian organization and auxiliary to the Government of Bangladesh. The organization was established in 1973 as the Bangladesh Red Cross Society through the Presidents Order 26. An early warning system is a warning system that can be implemented as a chain of information communication systems and comprises sensors, event detection and decision subsystems for early identification of hazards.
