Curtain Call At Cactus Creek
''Curtain Call at Cactus Creek'' is a 1950 American Western comedy film starring Donald O'Connor and Gale Storm. In the story, a traveling entertainer (O'Connor) gets mixed up with bank robbers. Plot A traveling troupe of entertainers arrives in Cactus Creek, Arizona, to put on a show. The act's stars are singer Lily Martin and her niece Julie and the flamboyant actor Tracy Holland, while a frustrated Eddie Timmons handles the lighting, sound effects and other duties, even though his ambition is to perform on stage. Eddie's in love with Julie. The bandit Rimrock Thomas turns up with his gang to rob the bank. Rimrock gets an idea while watching Lily Martin perform. He will coincide the robbery with the next show. Rimrock's presence disturbs Eddie and ends up disrupting the performance. When an explosion is heard from the direction of the bank, the audience flees. Rex Lloyd Lease (February 11, 1903 – January 3, 1966) was an American actor. He appeared in over 300 films, mainly in Poverty Row Westerns. Biography Rex Lease arrived in Hollywood in 1924. He found bit and supporting parts at Film Booking Office (FBO), Rayart, and more, and was given the opportunity to play a few leads. His first film was ''A Woman Who Sinned'' (FBO, 1924). Lease's earliest Westerns were a pair of Tim McCoy silents at MGM, one of which was ''The Law of the Range'' (MGM, 1928) which had a young Joan Crawford as the heroine and Lease as the Solitaire Kid. McCoy and Lease became friends, and over the next dozen or so years, he appeared in seven more McCoy Westerns. He had a featured role in director Frank Capra's ''The Younger Generation'' (Columbia, 1929), a tale of a Jewish family that moves to a more up-scale neighborhood. Harry Shannon (June 13, 1890 – July 27, 1964) was an American character actor. He often appeared in Western films. Biography Shannon was born on a farm in Saginaw, Michigan. After beginning his career in live theater and vaudeville, be switched to the film industry in the 1930s.
