James Young (director)
James Young (January 1, 1872 – June 9, 1948) was an American film director, actor, and screenwriter of the silent era. Before films, Young had a successful career as a stage actor appearing on Broadway and throughout the country, and was the author of a notable 1905 book on theatrical makeup. Young directed more than 90 films between 1912 and 1928. He also appeared as an actor in 60 films between 1909 and 1917. His first wife was librettist Rida Johnson Young who often composed with Victor Herbert. His second wife was film actress Clara Kimball Young, 18 years his junior, who kept his surname after they divorced. James Young died in New York City on June 9, 1948. Florence Deshon
Florence Deshon (born Florence Danks; July 19, 1893February 4, 1922) was an American motion picture actress in silent films. Born in Tacoma, Washington, Tacoma, Washington (state), Washington, Deshon began her film career in 1915, appearing in ''The Beloved Vagabond (1915 film), The Beloved Vagabond'', and would later star in numerous pictures for Samuel Goldwyn and Vitagraph Studios between 1918 and 1921. She was romantically involved with writer Max Eastman and actor Charlie Chaplin. Deshon died of gas asphyxiation in her New York City apartment. Charles Richman (actor)
Charles J. Richman (January 12, 1865 – December 1, 1940) was an American stage and film actor who appeared in more than 60 films between 1914 and 1939. Richman was born in the Kenwood Section of Chicago, Illinois. After receiving a public-school education, he attended the Chicago College of Law at night. His interest turned from law to theater after he began acting in amateur productions at the Carleton Club and a millionaire offered to sponsor a touring company headed by Richman. That project led Richman to New York. Long before entering films Richman acted in the legitimate theatre. His work on Broadway began with portraying Horst von Neuhoff in ''The Countess Gucki'' (1896) and ended with playing Grandfather Trenchard in ''And Stars Remain'' (1936). In 1906 he founded The Garrick Theatre Stock Company, a troupe in residence at Broadway's Garrick Theatre. Rita Weiman (1885–1954) was a playwright, journalist, author, and screenwriter. Biography Beginnings Rita was born in Philadelphia in 1885 and raised in a Quaker community. She later recounted that she felt lucky her parents supported her ambitions to become a writer. She attended the Friends' Central School before moving to New York to pursue journalism but soon fell into playwriting.
