BBC Alba (TV Channel)
BBC Alba is a Scottish Gaelic-language free-to-air public broadcast television channel jointly owned by the BBC and MG Alba. The channel was launched on 19 September 2008 and is on-air for up to seven hours a day. The name ' is the Scottish Gaelic name for Scotland. The station is unique in that it is the first channel to be delivered under a BBC licence by a partnership and was also the first multi-genre channel to come entirely from Scotland with almost all of its programmes made in Scotland. BBC Alba had an average viewership of 637,000 adults over the age of 16 in Scotland each week. Donnie Munro
Donnie Munro (Scottish Gaelic: Donaidh Rothach /dɔnɪ rɔhəx/) (born 2 August 1953) is a Scottish musician and politician, best known as the former lead singer of the band Runrig. Munro served as the bands lead vocalist during their most commercially successful period, 1987–1995, particularly with the release of their album '' The Cutter and the Clan'' and the 1995 single " An Ubhal as Àirde (The Highest Apple)" which made chart history by becoming the first song to be performed in Scottish Gaelic to chart in the United Kingdom. Hardeep Singh Kohli
Hardeep Singh Kohli (born 21 January 1969) is a British presenter, comedian, writer and director who has appeared on various radio and television programmes. Having moved to Scotland at a young age, he has had a long association with the arts in Scotland and is known more widely across the United Kingdom as a presenter on BBC television and radio, and on Channel 4. ''The X Factor'' is a British reality television music competition, and part of the global '' X Factor'' franchise created by Simon Cowell. Una McLean
Una McLean MBE (born 12 January 1930) is a Scottish actress and comedian. She is best known for appearing in pantomimes. She was married to Scottish stage and film actor Russell Hunter from 1991 until his death in 2004. McLean trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and began her career at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews in 1955. She joined the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow in 1959. Aileen McGlynn
Aileen McGlynn (born 22 June 1973) is a Scottish paralympic tandem champion cyclist, tandem piloted until 2009 by Ellen Hunter but most regularly piloted by Helen Scott. Biography Born in Paisley and grew up in Glasgow, McGlynn was partially sighted at birth, she joined the Glenmarnock Wheelers cycling club at the age of 18 but was initially reluctant to tell her club mates about her disability. However, when the club worked it out they were very supportive. She is also a patron of an organisation called 'Crank It Up' who aim to provide cycling for people of all abilities. Before McGlynn became a full-time athlete, she was a trainee actuary with a degree in mathematics, statistics and management science from the University of Strathclyde. ''Taggart'' is a Scottish detective fiction television programme created by Glenn Chandler, who wrote many of the episodes, and made by STV Studios for the ITV network. It originally ran as the miniseries ''Killer'' from 6 until 20 September 1983, before a full series was commissioned that ran from 2 July 1985 until 7 November 2010. Charles "Chick" Young (born 4 May 1951) is a professional association football pundit (expert), pundit who regularly appears for BBC Scotland on ''Sportscene'' and ''Sportsound''.
