Ctenotus Ariadnae
''Ctenotus ariadnae'', also known commonly as Ariadna's ctenotus, is a species of skink, a lizard in the family Scincidae. The species is endemic to Australia. Etymology The specific name, ''ariadnae'', is in honor of Ariadna Neumann who was the Librarian of the Western Australian Museum. Geographic range ''C. ariadnae'' is found in central Australia, in the following portions of the Australian states and territories: eastern Western Australia, northern South Australia, southwestern Queensland, and southern Northern Territory. Habitat The preferred natural habitats of ''C. ariadne'' are desert and grassland. Description ''C. ariadnae'' has an average snout-to-vent length (SVL) of about , and a tail about 1.75 times SVL. Glen Milton Storr
Dr. Glen Milton Storr (22 December 1921 – 26 June 1990) was an Australian ornithologist and herpetologist. He joined the Western Australian Museum in 1962 and became Curator of Ornithology and Herpetology in 1965. He was a member of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU), and served as Secretary of the Western Australian Branch of the RAOU in 1954. Storr produced his postgraduate research on kangaroos. His tenure as curator at the WA museum ended in 1986. Career Storr was born in Adelaide in 1921, and had become a cadet land surveyor with the South Australian Lands Department in 1939. ''Ctenotus'' is a genus of skinks (family Scincidae). The genus belongs to a clade in the ''Sphenomorphus'' group which contains such genera as ''Anomalopus'' and the close relatives '' Eulamprus'' and '' Gnypetoscincus''. Lizards in the genus ''Ctenotus'' are commonly called comb-eared skinks, a reference to the scales aligned near the ear. ''Ctenotus'' lizards are able to move very quickly, disappearing whilst being observed. They are highly active in their habits, foraging amongst a diverse range of habitat. Harold George "Hal" Cogger (born 4 May 1935) is an Australian herpetologist. He was curator of reptiles and amphibians at the Australian Museum from 1960 to 1975, and Deputy Director of the museum from 1976 to 1995. He has written extensively on Australian herpetology, and was the first author to create a field guide for all Australian frogs and reptiles. Cogger was made an honorary Doctor of Science in 1997.
