Croatia is a nation that has competed at three Hopman Cup tournaments since it gained its independence following the breakup of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. It first competed in the Hopman Cup in 1996 and went on to win the title that year. Sixteen years after last participation (2007) Croatia won second title at 2023. 2023 Hopman Cup
The Hopman Cup XXXII was the 32nd edition of the Hopman Cup, a tennis tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. It took place from 19–23 July 2023 on clay courts at the Nice Lawn Tennis Club in Nice, France. After a three-year absence, on 6 December 2022, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced that the Hopman Cup would return for the 2023 tennis season in Nice in July, the first occasion in which the event was moved out of Australia and away from the opening week of the season. The 2023 event featured six teams, as opposed to the eight featured in previous editions. Team Croatia's Donna Vekić and Borna Ćorić defeated Switzerland's Céline Naef and Leandro Riedi in the final to win the second Hopman Cup title for Croatia, its first since 1996. Goran Ivanišević
Goran Ivanišević (; born 13 September 1971) is a Croatian former professional tennis player and current coach. He was ranked world No. 2 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in July 1994. Ivanišević won 22 ATP Tour-level singles titles, including the 2001 Wimbledon Championships. He is the only player to win a Wimbledon singles title as a wild card, achieving the feat while ranked world No. 125. He had previously been runner-up at Wimbledon in 1992, 1994, and 1998. Iva Majoli (born 12 August 1977) is a Croatian former professional tennis player who played for both Yugoslavia and Croatia. She won three WTA Tier I singles tournaments and upset the world No. 1, Martina Hingis, to win the women's singles title at the 1997 French Open. Majoli reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4, in February 1996. Hopman Cup
The Hopman Cup is an international tennis tournament that plays mixed teams (one male and one female) on a country-by-country basis. It was first held in Perth, Western Australia each year from 1989 to 2019, played on indoor hardcourt, before being replaced on the calendar in 2020 by the now defunct ATP Cup, which was in turn replaced by the United Cup. The tournament was played in an eight-team format, with the exception for the years 1990-1995, with twelve teams competing. It returned in July 2023 in Nice, France, played on outdoor clay, with six teams invited to participate. Burswood Dome
The Dome at Crown Perth (originally the Burswood Superdome and formerly the Burswood Dome) was a multi-purpose indoor arena used for sports and entertainment. The dome was in size, with seating for 13,600 people. The whole arena was pressurised so that the fibreglass roof was suspended above the ground. It was a venue for indoor sports, notably the Hopman Cup tennis tournament from 1989 until 2012, which was moved to the Perth Arena for the 2013 and future events, and for music concerts.
