Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and '' sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. Alejandra Meyer
Martha Alejandra Meyer (February 26, 1937 – November 7, 2007) was a Mexican telenovela actress. Additionally, she appeared in over 90 films throughout her career and many telenovelas, including '' Serafín'' and ''Niña amada mía''. She first gained fame in Mexican television programs such as ''Dr. Cándido Pérez'', where she appeared opposite actor Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo. Her last work was in the telenovela series '' Yo amo a Juan Querendón'' and '' Vecinos''. Alejandra Meyer was born on February 26, 1937, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. She died of heart failure at the age of 70 on November 7, 2007, in Mexico City. Before her death she was featured in the book ''Televisa Presenta'', which celebrated fifty years of network programming. Enrique Lizalde Chávez (January 9, 1937 – June 3, 2013) was a Mexican film, television and theater actor whose career spanned from the 1960s to the 2000s. He appeared in dozens of films and television shows, including telenovelas, throughout his career. Lizalde began his career in the early 1960s. His film roles included ''Corona de lágrimas'' in 1968 and '' El Monasterio de los Buitres'' in 1973. Lizalde's numerous telenovela credits included '' Chispita'', '' Dulce desafío'', '' María la del Barrio'', '' Alcanzar una estrella'', '' Esmeralda (Mexican TV series)'', and ''La usurpadora''. He was the first actor to portray Juan del Diablo on the original 1966 Mexican telenovela, '' Corazón salvaje''. He was later cast as Noel Mancera in the 1993 remake of Corazón salvaje. Eusebia Cosme
Eusebia Cosme Almanza (5 March 1908 – 11 July 1976) was a Cuban poetry reciter and actress who gained widespread fame in the 1930s. Because of racial segregation, Cosme did not pursue an acting career in the traditional Cuban theater, instead focusing on the art of declamation, or poetry reading. She was the sole Cuban woman and one of the few black women to participate in African-themed declamation. Her performances went beyond reciting the poems, as she used gestures, facial expression and vocal rhythm to convey the emotion of the written word. Focusing on works that served as social commentary on race, gender, and the disparity of the position of blacks in both Latin America and the United States, Cosme was recognized as a master of her craft.
