Craig Kinsey
Craig Kinsey (born July 12, 1971) is an American singer-songwriter based in Houston, Texas. Kinsey developed an early interest in theology and belief systems in the American South. This interest led him to Canada before he returned to live in a monastic community near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Following this period, Kinsey returned to Houston and studied at the University of Saint Thomas. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas with a joint major in psychology and philosophy. He has since focused on a music career, releasing work on multiple Texas-based record labels. Kinsey has performed alongside artists such as Hayes Carll, opened for Ian McLagan of Faces and Roky Erickson, shared stages with John Evans and Robert Ellis, and performed just before Snoop Dogg at Houston's Free Press Summer Fest in 2012. Free Press Summer Fest
The Free Press Summer Festival was an annual two-day music festival held in Houston, Texas at Buffalo Bayou's Eleanor Tinsley Park. Other activities include fireworks, interactive art installations, a paint slide, music workshops, a 30-foot water wall and an off-site after party. The festival was started to emphasize local musical performers, visual arts and artists. A recycling program, carbon offset credits and a partnership with the Texas Campaign for the Environment are implemented to help this festival become a greener experience. Bill Monroe
William Smith Monroe ( ; September 13, 1911 – September 9, 1996) was an American mandolinist, singer, and songwriter who created the bluegrass music genre. Because of this, he is often called the " Father of Bluegrass". The genre takes its name from his band, the Blue Grass Boys, who named their group for the bluegrass of Monroe's home state of Kentucky. He began his career as a classical philology, classical philologist, turning to philosophy early in his academic career. Melissa Carper is an American singer, songwriter and double bassist raised in North Platte, Nebraska, United States. She came from a musical family and started playing bass when she was a child, performing in a family band at churches and rest homes around North Platte. She has traveled the country playing in the oldtime, blues, western swing and country styles. Carper considered majoring in music in college but left before earning her degree. Mason Proffit
Mason Proffit was an American country rock band from Indianapolis, Indiana, that released five albums between 1969 and 1973. They are known for their song "Two Hangmen", which garnered a significant amount of Album Oriented Rock airplay. History Brothers Terry Talbot and John Michael Talbot played together in several local bands around Indianapolis, Indiana and later in Chicago. After their group Sounds Unlimited disbanded, in 1969 they formed Mason Proffit with a focus on the emerging blend of folk, country and rock that would come to be called country rock.
