Jatiya Sangsad
The Jatiya Sangsad (), often simply referred to as Sangsad and also known as is the unicameral Legislature, legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Elected occupants are called Member of Parliament (Bangladesh), members of Parliament, or MPs. The 2024 Bangladeshi general election, 12th national parliamentary election was held on 7 January 2024. Bangladesh Nationalist Party
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (), popularly abbreviated as BNP (), is a major List of political parties in Bangladesh, political party in Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by President of Bangladesh, President Ziaur Rahman, with a view of uniting people with a Bangladeshi nationalism, nationalist ideology. June 1996 Bangladeshi General Election
Snap general elections were held in Bangladesh on 12 June 1996. They were called following the controversial February 1996 elections, which were boycotted by the opposition and saw a turnout of just 21%. The result of the snap elections was a victory for the Bangladesh Awami League, which won 146 of the 300 directly elected seats, resulting in its leader Sheikh Hasina becoming Prime Minister. It was the first election victory for the Awami League since 1973 and the party's removal from power in a 1975 coup. Voter turnout was 75%, the highest to date. Syed Muhammad Ibrahim is a Bangladeshi politician and retired Major General of the Bangladesh Army. He is a briefly served as member of Jatiya Sangsad representing the Cox's Bazar-1 constituency. 2024 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 7 January 2024 in accordance with the Constitution of Bangladesh, constitutional requirement, stating that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the current term of the Jatiya Sangsad on 29 January 2024. 2014 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 5 January 2014, in accordance with the constitutional requirement that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the term of the Jatiya Sangshad on 24 January 2014.
