''Cornered'' is a 1924 American silent drama film directed by William Beaudine. The story was filmed again in 1930 as a talkie called '' Road to Paradise''. It was also directed by Beaudine. According to Warner Bros records the film earned $235,000 domestically and $22,000 foreign. William Beaudine
William Washington Beaudine (January 15, 1892 – March 18, 1970) was an American film director. He was one of Hollywood's most prolific directors, turning out a remarkable 179 feature-length films in a wide variety of genres. He is best known today for his silent films ''Little Annie Rooney (1925 film), Little Annie Rooney'' and ''Sparrows (1926 film), Sparrows'', both with Mary Pickford; the W. C. Fields comedy ''The Old Fashioned Way (1934 film), The Old Fashioned Way''; several Bela Lugosi and Charlie Chan thrillers; ''Mom and Dad (1945 film), Mom and Dad'', a sex-education exploitation film; and the popular The Bowery Boys, Bowery Boys comedies. Lost Film
A lost film is a feature film, feature or short film in which the original negative or copies are not known to exist in any studio archive, private collection, or public archive. Films can be wholly or partially lost for a number of reasons. Early films were not thought to have value beyond their theatrical run, so many were discarded afterward. Nitrate film used in early pictures was highly flammable and susceptible to degradation. The Library of Congress began acquiring copies of American films in 1909, but not all were kept. Due to improvements in film technology and recordkeeping, few films produced in the 1950s or beyond have been lost. Rarely, but occasionally, films classified as lost are found in an uncataloged or miscataloged archive or private collection, becoming "rediscovered films". Virginia Elizabeth Marshall (October 1, 1918 – January 30, 1982), also known as Little Virginia Marshall, was an American child actress in the silent film era between 1924 and 1930. Biography Virginia Elizabeth Marshall was born on October 1, 1918, in Dallas, Texas, to Virginia G. Wallace of Cuba, Missouri, and Wallace L. Marshall of Tyler, Texas. Marshall appeared in a ''Los Angeles Times'' feature entitled ''Stars Tomorrow?'' in April 1925.Los Angeles Times, ''Stars Tomorrow?'', April 1, 1925, Page C4. She was among a group of children that included Vonda Phelps and Virginia Davis. The article questioned whether their stardom would continue or fade away with time. Wilfred Van Norman Lucas (January 30, 1871 – December 13, 1940) was a Canadian American stage actor who found success in film as an actor, director, and screenwriter. Early life Lucas was born in Norfolk County, Ontario on January 30, 1871,US Passport Application July 17, 1917 (Wilfred Lucas) most likely in the township of Townsend where at the time his father served as a Wesleyan Church, Wesleyan Methodist minister.
