Copa San Isidro De Curuguaty
The Copa San Isidro de Curuguaty (English: San Isidro de Curuguaty Cup) is a football (soccer) tournament of regional character played between the champions of the Campeonato Nacional de Interligas organized by the Unión del Fútbol del Interior (Paraguay) and the Copa Nacional de Selecciones del Interior organized by the Organización del Fútbol del Interior (Uruguay). History The tournament was created by Eusebio Baeza, former executive of Pluna and the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol, and Arturo Filartiga Candia, member of the Asociación Paraguaya de Fútbol. The tournament is played every two years since 1978 with home and away games. If teams tie in points and goals the game is decided by penalty kicks. The Campeonato Nacional de Interligas (Spanish for ''National Championship of Interleague'') is the biggest football event involving teams with combined players from different clubs of every regional leagues in Paraguay from all departments. The Unión del Fútbol del Interior (; UFI) is an association affiliated to the Asociación Paraguaya de Fútbol, Paraguayan Football Association that was founded in 1927 to organize and govern football (soccer), football outside of Asunción, specifically on each of the different Departments of Paraguay. The UFI is constituted by the clubs and leagues that are part of the Departmental Football Federation from each Department in Paraguay. Club tournaments organized by the UFI gives chances to teams from all over Paraguay to reach the Liga Paraguaya: Primera División, first division by clearing lower division levels. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
In association football, a penalty shoot-out (previously known as kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) has expired. For example, in a FIFA World Cup, penalties are used in elimination matches; the round of 32, the round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and the final. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different players; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead.
