Construct (Dark Tranquillity Album)
''Construct'' is the tenth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. It was released on 27 May 2013 through Century Media Records. A music video for "Uniformity", directed by Patric Ullaeus, was released on 10 May 2013. The album was written during what the band described as their "darkest period" and drew critical praise for its melodrama and darkness. Construct would be the band's last studio album with founding member guitarist Martin Henriksson as he left the band in early 2016 due to loss of passion for playing music. At 42 minutes, ''Construct'' is Dark Tranquillity's shortest studio album to date. Background Prior to recording the music for ''Construct'', bassist Daniel Antonsson departed on amicable terms and guitarist Martin Henriksson (who originally played bass for Dark Tranquillity before switching to guitars beginning with ''Projector'' in 1999) filled in for the recording session. Dark Tranquillity
Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. They are considered one of the pioneering acts of the Swedish death metal, Gothenburg metal scene, which also includes bands such as In Flames and At the Gates - regarded as the Gothenburg fathers in the film entitled ''Out of Nothing: A DT Documentary'' released by Century Media, which was filmed in their home town in April 2009. ''Projector'' (stylized : projector, or on the reissue p.r.o.j.e.c.t.o.r.) is the fourth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. It is the final Dark Tranquillity album to feature guitarist Fredrik Johansson. Lineup change In January 1999, with the album recorded months prior, and its release months ahead, Johansson and Dark Tranquillity mutually split, due to Johansson wanting to focus on his family and his day job. Bassist Martin Henriksson replaced Johansson on guitar, and Michael Nicklasson joined the band afterward, taking Henriksson's former position on bass guitar. The introduction of piano, keyboards, and electronics — and their desire to integrate these elements into its sound — led the band to hire Martin Brändström as a full-time keyboardist. Mikael Stanne
Bengt Mikael Stanne (born 20 May 1974) is a Swedish musician, best known as the vocalist, primary lyricist and a former guitarist for the melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. Since the departure of original drummer Anders Jivarp in 2021, Stanne is the only remaining original member of the band. Stanne is also the vocalist for bands Grand Cadaver, The Halo Effect (band), the Halo Effect and Cemetery Skyline, which formed in 2020, 2021 and 2023, respectively. He was also an ex-vocalist for HammerFall and In Flames. Niklas Sundin
Niklas Sundin (born 13 August 1974) is a Swedish musician, best known as a founding member and former lead guitarist of the melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity from 1989–2020. In 2019, he founded his own band called Mitochondrial Sun, which has released three full-length studio albums to date. He is also a member of Time and the Hunter, a project founded in collaboration with Italian musician Enrico Longhin. He was a guitarist in the metal band Laethora from 2005–2010. In Dark Tranquillity, he was one of only two members (the other being drummer Anders Jivarp) to maintain his role, unlike the other members who have or had switched.
