Consent Management
Consent management is a system, process or set of policies for allowing consumers to determine information they are willing to permit their various providers to access. This allows individuals to control their own information privacy and how that information is collected and used, often within the context of digital platforms and data privacy regulations. It was originally related specifically to health care but has expanded to include consent about all electronic information about individuals that include what data is collected, how it is used and provide them the ability to manage their consent choices. History Originally consent management was related to health care as medical records started to become stored and shared electronically. It was to enable patients and consumers to affirm their participation in e-health initiatives and to establish consent directives to determine who will have access to their protected health information (PHI), for what purpose and under what circ ...

Health Policy In The United States
Healthcare in the United States is largely provided by private sector healthcare facilities, and paid for by a combination of public programs, private insurance, and out-of-pocket payments. The U.S. is the only developed country without a system of universal healthcare, and a significant proportion of its population lacks health insurance. The United States spends more on healthcare than any other country, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of GDP; however, this expenditure does not necessarily translate into better overall health outcomes compared to other developed nations. In 2022, the United States spent approximately 17.8% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on healthcare, significantly higher than the average of 11.5% among other high-income countries. Coverage varies widely across the population, with certain groups, such as the elderly, disabled and low-income individuals receiving more comprehensive care through government programs such as Medicaid and Medica ...

OASIS (organization)
The Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS; ) is an Trade association, industry consortium that develops Technical standard, technical standards for information technology. History OASIS was founded under the name "SGML Open" in 1993. It began as a trade association of Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) tool vendors to cooperatively promote the adoption of SGML through mainly educational activities, though some amount of technical activity was also pursued including an update of the CALS Table Model specification and specifications for fragment interchange and entity management. In 1998, with the movement of the industry to XML, SGML Open changed its emphasis from SGML to XML, and changed its name to OASIS Open to be inclusive of XML and reflect an expanded scope of technical work and standards. The focus of the consortium's activities also moved from promoting adoption (as XML was getting much attention on its own) to developing ...

Health Level 7
Health Level Seven, abbreviated to HL7, is a range of global standards for the transfer of clinical and administrative health data between applications with the aim to improve patient outcomes and health system performance. The HL7 standards focus on the application layer, which is "layer 7" in the Open Systems Interconnection model. The standards are produced by Health Level Seven International, an international standards organization, and are adopted by other standards-issuing bodies such as American National Standards Institute and International Organization for Standardization. There are a range of primary standards that are commonly used across the industry, as well as secondary standards which are less frequently adopted. Purpose Health organizations typically have many different computer systems used to process different patient administration or clinical tasks, such as billing, medication management, patient tracking, and documentation. All of these systems should comm ...

Health Information Exchange
Health Information Exchange (HIE) is the electronic exchange of health care information across organizations within a region, community, or hospital system. Participants in this data exchange are collectively called Health Information Networks (HINs). HIE may also refer to the Health Information Organization (HIO) facilitating the exchange. HIE aims to facilitate access to and retrieval of clinical data, particularly to support public health authorities in analyzing the health of the population. In the United States, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology supports statewide health information exchange through financial grants. These grants were legislated into the HITECH components of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Regional Health Information Organizations ( RHIOs) are typically geographically defined entities that develop and manage contractual agreements, facilitate electronic information exchange, and establish and mainta ...
