Conrad Christian Bøhndel
Conrad Christian August Bøhndel (7 March 1779 – 18 December 1847) was a Danish painter and lithographer. He lithographed the Hans Brüggemann's altarpiece between 1824 and 1832. Biography Conrad Christian Bøhndel was born in the parish of Hostrup in Tønder, Denmark. He was the son of Christian August Bøhndel and Frederikke Louise, née Staack. He went to Copenhagen as a young man to be trained as an artist at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He belonged to the circle of friends of Caspar David Friedrich when he first arrived in Copenhagen in 1799. After his studies at the Art Academy he visited the German painter Philipp Otto Runge in Dresden in 1802. In 1799 he won the Great Silver Medal and undertook an overseas trip with royal support, joining the Danish-German colony in Rome where he stayed from 1802 to 1810. Heinrich Carl Von Schimmelmann
Heinrich Carl von Schimmelmann (13 July 1724 – 16 February 1782) was a German-born merchant, banker, nobleman, planter and politician. During the Seven Years' War, he speculated heavily on currency debasement in close association with his business partner Abel Seyler. After supporting Denmark–Norway as the head of the banking system in Denmark, he was rewarded by becoming a member of the Danish nobility. Eventually, he became a plantation owner (and slave owner) and Danish finance minister. From 1774 onwards, von Schimmelmann was involved in the project of digging the Eider Canal. He died in 1782. Early life and career His father Diedrich Jacob was a merchant and city councillor in Demmin, Swedish Pommerania, who sent him out learning the trade in Stettin. Niels Laurits Andreas Høyen (4 June 1798 – 29 April 1870) is considered to be the first Danish art historian and critic. He promoted a Danish nationalistic art through his writings and lectures, and exerted a far reaching effect on contemporary artists. His work in various cultural institutions helped steer the development of Danish art during the mid-19th century. Early life and education Høyen was born in Copenhagen to distiller Anders Larsen Høyen and wife, Inger Margrethe. He was bright and did well in school. He was an avid reader, and was interested in art and history. He was lucky to have access to the day's cultured homes that had been opened up to gifted students from modest backgrounds.
