Connor West
Connor West (born 7 May 1999) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by West Coast with the 23rd draft pick in the 2021 mid-season rookie draft. AFL career Connor West represented Western Australia at the 2017 AFL Under 18 Championships. He had hoped to be drafted in the 2017 AFL draft, but he was not. He still held hope of being drafted in the AFL after the success of mature age recruits from the WAFL such as Tim Kelly and Bailey Banfield. West debuted in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) for West Perth against Swan Districts on Saturday, 21 April 2018. West was recruited by West Coast with the 23rd draft pick in the 2021 mid-season rookie draft, as Jarrod Cameron was placed on the long-term injury list due to a season-ending ankle injury. West Perth Football Club
The West Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Falcons, is an Australian rules football club located in Joondalup, Western Australia. West Perth competes in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW) and is the oldest existing Australian rules football club in Western Australia. Originally located at Leederville Oval, the team was relocated in 1994 to Arena Joondalup, a sports complex in the northern suburbs of Perth. Robbie West (born 7 March 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles and Footscray in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Ovens & Murray Football Netball League club Wodonga, West was drafted by West Coast at the 1990 AFL Draft and made his AFL debut in the 1991 AFL season. West was unable to break into West Coast's strong side, managed just three games in each of his first two seasons, instead playing most of his football with Western Australian Football League (WAFL) club West Perth, winning the Sandover Medal for best and fairest player in the WAFL as well as West Perth's Fairest and Best award. West's most successful year in the AFL came in 1993 when he played 10 games and the following year he crossed to Footscray for one season. The 2020 WAFL season (officially the 2020 Optus WAFL Premiership Season) was the 136th season of the various incarnations of the West Australian Football League (WAFL). The season commenced on July 18th due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced West Coast into recess for this season. Perth played in its first finals match since 1997, against West Perth at Arena Joondalup. Contrariwise, Peel, for over a decade and a half Perth’s perennial rivals for the wooden spoon, became the first team since 1999 to finish a Westar Rules/WAFL season without a win – indeed, before this COVID-19-shortened season, no WAFL team had managed only one win in a season since the Thunder in 2003.
