Connecticut State Senate
The Connecticut State Senate is the upper house of the Connecticut General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Connecticut. The state senate comprises 36 members, each representing a district with around 99,280 inhabitants. Senators are elected to two-year terms without term limits. The Connecticut State Senate is one of 14 state legislative upper houses whose members serve two-year terms; four-year terms are more common. Stratford, Connecticut
Stratford is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is situated on Long Island Sound at the mouth of the Housatonic River. Stratford is in the Bridgeport–Stamford–Norwalk Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was settled by Puritans in 1639. The population was 52,355 as of the 2020 census. It is bordered on the west by Bridgeport, to the north by Trumbull and Shelton, and on the east by Milford (across the Housatonic River). Herron Keyon Gaston is an American pastor, philanthropist, author, academician, and politician who currently serves as a member of the Connecticut State Senate for the Democratic Party representing the 23rd district encompassing parts of Bridgeport and Stratford where he also chairs the Public safety and vice-chairs the Human Services commissions. Sen. Gaston also serves on the environment, judiciary, and transportation committees. He is currently the Deputy Majority Leader. Gaston currently also serves as Assistant Chief Administrative Officer and Commissioner of the Civil Service Commission of the City of Bridgeport. Edwin A. Gomes (February 25, 1936 – December 22, 2020) was an American politician, a Democratic member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 23, which includes Bridgeport. He was elected to the chamber in a special election on February 24, 2015, and served until 2019.
