John Connally
John Bowden Connally Jr. (February 27, 1917June 15, 1993) was an American politician who served as the 39th governor of Texas from 1963 to 1969 and as the 61st United States secretary of the treasury from 1971 to 1972. He began his career as a History of the Democratic Party (United States), Democrat and later became a History of the Republican Party (United States), Republican in 1973. Connally was born in Floresville, Texas in 1917 and pursued a legal career after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin. During World War II, he served on the staff of James Forrestal and Dwight D. Eisenhower before transferring to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. After the war, he became an aide to Senator Lyndon B. Johnson. When Johnson assumed the vice presidency in 1961, he convinced President John F. Kennedy to appoint Connally to the position of United States Secretary of the Navy. Nellie Connally
Idanell Brill Connally (February 24, 1919 – September 1, 2006) was the First Lady of Texas from 1963 to 1969. She was the wife of John Connally, who served as Governor of Texas and later as Secretary of the Treasury. She and her husband were passengers in the Presidential limousine carrying United States President John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. Early life Connally was born Idanell Brill in Austin, Texas, the eldest of five children of Kathleen Annie (née Inks) and Arno W. Brill. Tom Connally
Thomas Terry Connally (August 19, 1877October 28, 1963) was an American politician, who represented Texas in both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, as a member of the Democratic Party. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1917 to 1929, and in the U.S. Senate from 1929 to 1953. He was a segregationist who advocated in favor of Jim Crow laws, for example opposing equal education for black people, and against anti-lynching legislation. In the House, Connally was a staunch Wilsonian Democrat who campaigned in favor of the League of Nations, and the World Court. Wayne Wright Connally (March 19, 1923 – December 20, 2000) was an American politician. He served as a Democratic member for the 58th district of the Texas House of Representatives. He also served as a member for the 21st district of the Texas Senate. Life and career Born in Floresville, Texas, the son of Lela and John Connally Sr. His brother was John Connally, later governor of Texas. He graduated from Floresville High School in 1940 and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Connally Edozien (born 26 June 1978) is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a forward. Playing career Youth and College Edozien was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but spent much of his youth in London. Connally Findlay Trigg (March 8, 1810 – April 25, 1880) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Connally Building
The Connally Building is located at 54 Peachtree Street (corner of Alabama Street) in Downtown Atlanta, adjacent to the Underground Atlanta retail center. It is a work of architect William Lee Stoddart, completed in 1916. The building has been so extensively renovated that it bears little resemblance to the original design, other than the terra cotta façade on the lower stories. This was originally a six-story office building with a terracotta facade, which replaced an earlier Connally Building on the site. In 1990, eleven stories were added and it was converted into a hotel. It has operated under the names Howard Johnson Plaza Suites, University Place at Underground, The Suite Hotel at the Underground, and most recently it became a Fairfield Inn & Suites. Connally High School is a public high school located in Waco, Texas, United States and classified as a 4A school by the UIL. It is part of the Connally Independent School District located in northern McLennan County. In 2015, the school was rated " Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.
