Orsay
Orsay () is a Communes of France, commune in the Essonne Departments of France, department in Île-de-France in northern France. It is located in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, France, from the Kilometre Zero, centre of Paris. A fortified location of the Vallée de Chevreuse, Chevreuse valley since the 8th century and agricultural domain of wealthy and influential people, the development of Orsay is marked by the introduction of a Rail transport, railroad in the second half of the 18th century (today the RER B of which two stations are located in Orsay) and donations which allow the construction of a hospital still active to this day. Villebon-sur-Yvette
Villebon-sur-Yvette (, literally ''Villebon on Yvette'') is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in northern France, about south of Paris. Thanks to the presence of the business centers of Courtabœuf and Grand Dôme as well as the commercial center of Villebon 2, it has become one of the richest communes in the department. It notably hosts France's first Costco store. Geography Villebon-sur-Yvette is located in the Hurepoix area on the river '' Yvette'', in the valley of the same name (also called Vallée de Chevreuse) on ground that is composed of milled stone, sand and clay. Verrières-le-Buisson
Verrières-le-Buisson () is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is from the centre of Paris, in the Essonne department just outside the inner ring of the Île-de-France. The commune borders the river Bièvre. History The "Villa Vedrarias", was given by Childebert I in 543 to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It is the first written mention of Verrières. The current name appears during the 16th century. Under the reign of Louis XIV, who enjoyed hunting in the Verrières forest, the term "Le Buisson" was added. This is reflected in the coat of arms, which bears an oak, along with the arms of Saint-Germain. External ornaments include two beavers (''bievers'' in Old French) symbolizing the river Bièvre. Saulx-les-Chartreux
Saulx-les-Chartreux () is a commune in the Essonne department in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 20 kilometres from the center of Paris. History The name of the city come from a tree: ''Saule'' (willow tree in French). Monks built a monastery in this village during the 11th century, and lived there until the Wars of Religion in 1592, when Condé soldiers came to burn the place. Montlhéry
Montlhéry () is a Communes of France, commune in the Essonne Departments of France, department in Île-de-France in northern France. It is located from Paris. History Montlhéry lay on the strategically important road from Paris to Orléans. Under the Merovingians, it was owned by the church in Reims and in 768 it was given to the abbey of St. Denis in Paris. It was the site of a number of battles between the lords of Montlhéry and the early House of Capet, Capetian monarchy. The Montlhéry noble house was related to the Montmorency family; Thibaud, the founder of the Montlhéry dynasty, was the brother of Bouchard II, the progenitor of the Montmorency house.
