Chartres () is the Prefectures in France, prefecture of the Eure-et-Loir Departments of France, department in the Centre-Val de Loire Regions of France, region in France. It is located about southwest of Paris. At the 2019 census, there were 170,763 inhabitants in the Functional area (France), metropolitan area of Chartres (as defined by the Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques, INSEE), 38,534 of whom lived in the city (Communes of France, commune) of Chartres proper.
