Combination Square
A combination square is a multi-purpose measuring and marking tool used in metalworking, woodworking, and stonemasonry. It is composed of a Ruler, rule and one or more interchangeable heads that can be attached to the rule. Other names for the tool include adjustable square, combo square, and sliding square. The most common head is the standard head, which is used as a Square (tool), square for marking and testing 90° and 45° angles. The other common types of head are the protractor head, and the centre finder head. A straightedge or straight edge is a tool used for drawing straight lines, or checking their straightness. If it has equally spaced markings along its length, it is usually called a ruler. Straightedges are used in the automotive service and machining industry to check the flatness of machined mating surfaces. They are also used in the decorating industry for cutting and hanging wallpaper. True straightness can in some cases be checked by using a laser line level as an optical straightedge: it can illuminate an accurately straight line on a flat surface such as the edge of a plank or shelf. Athol, Massachusetts
Athol (, ) is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 11,945 at the 2020 census. History Originally called Pequoiag when settled by Native Americans, the area was subsequently settled by five families in September 1735. When the township was incorporated in 1762, the name was changed to Athol. A sliding T bevel, also known as a bevel gauge or false square is an adjustable Gauge (instrument), gauge for setting and transferring angles. Different from the square (tool), square, which is fixed and can only set a right angle, 90° angle, the sliding T bevel can set any angle and transfer it on another piece. The bevel gauge is composed of two elements connected with a thumbscrew (fastener), thumbscrew or wingnut (hardware), wing nut, which allows the blade to pivot and be locked at any angle. The handle is usually made of wood or plastic and the blade of metal. A marking gauge, also known as a scratch gauge, is used in woodworking and metalworking to marking out, mark out lines for cutting or other operations. The purpose of the gauge is to scribe a line parallel to a reference edge or surface. It is used in joinery and Fabrication (metal), sheetmetal operations.
