Columbus Kamba Simango
Columbus Kamba Simango (1890-1966), often known as Kamba Simango, was an ethnographer, missionary, musician, performer and activist of Ndau people, Vandau ethnicity. Biography Simango was born in 1890 in Machanga District, Mozambique of Ndau people, Vandau ethnicity. He attended a Congregational Mission school in Beira, Mozambique, Beira, followed by studies at Mount Selinda and Lovedale (South Africa), Lovedale. In 1914, he went to the United States to study at the Hampton University, Hampton Institute, under the auspices of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, American Board of Missions. After this he went to the Teachers College, Columbia University, Teachers College at Columbia University, graduating in 1923. During this time, in April 1922, he participated as a dancer in the play ''Taboo (1922 play), Taboo'', presented at the Sam H. Harris Theater in Harlem. Machanga District
Machanga District is a Districts of Mozambique, district of Sofala Province in Mozambique. The principal town is Machanga. The district is located in the south of the province, and borders with Buzi District in the north, Mabote District, Mabote and Govuro Districts of Inhambane Province in the south, Machaze District of Manica Province in the west, and with Chibabava District in the northwest.
