David La Touche Colthurst
David la Touche Colthurst (1828 – 19 January 1907) was an Irish Home Rule League politician. He was elected Home Rule Member of Parliament (MP) for County Cork at the 1879 by-election, and remained MP until the seat was abolished in 1885. He was the son of Sir Nicholas Colthurst, 4th Baronet Sir Nicholas Colthurst, 4th Baronet (1789–1829) was an Anglo-Irish politician. Edmund Colthurst
Edmund Colthurst (c. 1545 – 1616) was a wealthy English landowner who inherited the former monastic estates of Hinton Priory and Bath Abbey, Somerset, following the death of his father in 1559. He was the son of Matthew Colthurst and Anne Grimston. He married Elinor de la Rivere (d. 1586), daughter of Thomas de la Rivere, with whom he had eight children. In 1572 he donated Bath Abbey church to the city authorities, but retained the rest of the former priory precinct for his own use. He sold Hinton Priory in 1578. By c. 1600, Colthurst had become a colonist on the Munster Plantation, where he is recorded as ‘farmer of the castle and manor of Lysfynny’ (Lisfinny Castle), near Tallow. Lisfinny Castle is a tower house that formed part of an estate that Sir Walter Raleigh granted to Edmund's brother Andrew in return for his support during the Second Desmond Rebellion of the 1580s; his brother Thomas was leased a similar property known as Shean Castle. Sir George Colthurst, 5th Baronet
Sir George Colthurst, 5th Baronet (1824 – 24 September 1878), was an Irish landowner and politician. He was a Member of Parliament for Kinsale, Ireland, from 1863 to 1874 as a Liberal-Conservative. Colthurst was also grand juror and magistrate of Cork County and High Sheriff of County Cork in 1850. He was the fifth of the Colthurst baronets, eldest son of Sir Nicholas Colthurst, 4th Baronet and Elizabeth Vesey. Colthurst died at Buxton, Derbyshire on 24 September 1878 where he had gone to recover from gout, he was aged 54. James Richard Colthurst (born 7 March 1957) is an Irish-born British aristocrat, radiologist, and medical business consultant. He worked as a radiologist at London's St Thomas' Hospital and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Colthurst was a close friend to Diana, Princess of Wales and served as a "middle-man" between the princess and the writer Andrew Morton, interviewing her for the 1992 book '' Diana: Her True Story''. Matthew Colthurst
Matthew Colthurst (by 1517 – 8 July 1559), of Wardour Castle, Wiltshire and Claverton, Somerset, was an English politician during the reigns of Henry VIII and Edward VI. Early life Matthew was the son of Henry Colthurst of Edisford, near Clitheroe, Lancashire. It is thought that he was educated at the Middle Temple and that his first wife was Anne Grimston of Suffolk, daughter of Thomas Grimston. His second wife was Anne Sibell of Farningham, Kent, a daughter of Nicholas Sibell. He had five sons and three daughters with his second wife. Career Matthew Colthurst may have been trained at an Inn of Court, perhaps the Middle Temple, and is first mentioned in July 1538 when he acquired the lease of the tithes of Tywardreath rectory, Cornwall. A year later, he was working for Edward Seymore as an auditor in the Court of Augmentations with responsibility for valuing Henry VIII's newly acquired monastic properties in the West Country. Sir Richard la Touche Colthurst, 9th Baronet (14 August 1928 – 22 March 2003) succeeded as 9th Colthurst Baronetcy in February 1955 following the death of his father Sir Richard St John Jefferyes Colthurst, 8th Baronet. Family dispute In 1999, a series of family disputes ended up in the courts.
