Gran Colombia (, "Great Colombia"), also known as Greater Colombia and officially the Republic of Colombia (Spanish language, Spanish: ''República de Colombia''), was a state that encompassed much of northern South America and parts of Central America from 1819 to 1831. The United States of Colombia () was the name adopted in 1863 by the for the Granadine Confederation, after years of civil war. Colômbia is a municipality in the northern part of the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population is 6,216 (2020 est.) in an area of 728.65 km². The elevation is 492 m.
