Colliding-Beam Storage Ring
A storage ring is a type of circular particle accelerator in which a continuous or pulsed particle beam may be kept circulating, typically for many hours. Storage of a particular Elementary particle, particle depends upon the mass, momentum, and usually the charge (physics), charge of the particle to be stored. Storage rings most commonly store electrons, positrons, or protons. Storage rings are most often used to store electrons that radiate synchrotron radiation. Over 50 facilities based on electron storage rings exist and are used for a variety of studies in chemistry and biology. Storage rings can also be used to produce polarized high-energy electron beams through the Sokolov-Ternov effect. The best-known application of storage rings is their use in particle accelerators and in collider, particle colliders, where two counter-rotating beams of stored particles are brought into collision at discrete locations. The resulting subatomic interactions are then studied in a surround ...

Aust
Aust is a small village in South Gloucestershire, England, about north of Bristol and about south west of Gloucester. It is located on the eastern side of the Severn estuary, close to the eastern end of the Severn Bridge which carries the M48 motorway. The village has a chapel, a church and a public house. There is a large area of farmland on the river bank, which is sometimes flooded due to the high tidal range of the River Severn, Severn. Aust Cliff, above the Severn, is located about from the village. The civil parish of Aust includes the villages of Elberton, Gloucestershire, Elberton and Littleton-upon-Severn. History Overview Aust, on the River Severn, was at one end of an ancient Roman road that led to Cirencester. Its name, Aust, may be one of the very few English place-names to be derived from the Latin ''Augusta''. "Augustin endeavoured to persuade the Welsh clergy to join him in preaching the Gospel to the Teutonic invaders, and held a meeting with them at or nea ...
