Collard (plant)
Collard is a group of loose-leafed cultivars of ''Brassica oleracea'' (the same species as many common vegetables like cabbage and broccoli). Part of the acephala group, acephala cultivar group (or kale group), collard is also classified as the Variety (botany), variety ''B. oleracea'' var. ''viridis''. The plants are grown as a food crop for their large, dark-green, greens (vegetable), edible leaves, which are cooked and eaten as vegetables. Collard greens have been cultivated as food since classical antiquity. Nomenclature The term ''colewort'' is a medieval term for non-heading brassica crops. The term collard has been used to include many non-heading ''Brassica oleracea'' crops. "Collard Greens" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Schoolboy Q, released on June 11, 2013 as the lead single from his third studio album ''Oxymoron'' (2014). The song, produced by production team THC and co-produced by Gwen Bunn, features a guest appearance from his Black Hippy cohort, Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate, and fellow American rapper Kendrick Lamar. The song has since peaked at number 92 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 36 on the UK R&B Chart. It was met with generally positive reviews from music critics. Catherine Collard
Catherine Collard (11 August 1947 – 10 October 1993) was a French classical pianist. She entered the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 14, where she studied with Yvonne Lefébure and Germaine Mounier. She was awarded the first prize in piano in 1964, and the first prize in chamber music in 1966. She won a number of prizes in competitions (the ''Claude Debussy'', ''Olivier Messiaen'', ''Fondation de la vocation'' amongst others), which began a career of distinction. Clayton Collard (born 4 December 1988) is an Australian rules footballer. He plays as a midfielder or small forward and was selected by the Fremantle Football Club with selection 31 in the 2006 AFL National draft. He was rookie listed by the Richmond Football Club in the 2007 Rookie Draft at pick 1. In August 2008 he was delisted from the Richmond Football Club. Collard spent the 2006 season playing for the South Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League. He represented Western Australia in the national under-18 championships and is a graduate of the AIS/AFL academy. Clayton made his debut for the Fremantle Dockers against St Kilda in Round 9, 2007. Frederick William Collard (baptised 1772, died 1860) was a British piano manufacturer. Life Collard, son of William and Thamosin Collard, was baptised at Wiveliscombe, Somerset, on 21 June 1772, and coming to London at the age of fourteen, obtained a situation in the house of Longman, Lukey, & Broderip, music publishers and pianoforte makers at 26 Cheapside. In 1799 Longman & Co. fell into commercial difficulties, and a new company, consisting of John Longman, Muzio Clementi, Frederick Augustus Hyde, F. W. Frederick Walter Collard (6 June 1912 – 1 December 1986) was an Australian politician and trade unionist. He was a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and served in the House of Representatives from 1961 to 1975, representing the Western Australian seat of Kalgoorlie. He was a gold miner and Australian Workers' Union official before entering parliament. Early life Collard was born on 6 June 1912 in Beverley, Western Australia. Ora Marion Collard (September 17, 1902–April 11, 1961) was an American businessman and politician. Collard was born in Norris City, Illinois. In 1904, Collard moved with his family to Herrin, Illinois, where he went to the Herrin public schools. He owned the Collard Heating and Air Conditioning Company in Herrin.
