Cois Fharraige (festival)
Cois Fharraige was a three-day Irish surfing and music festival, held annually in Kilkee, County Clare from 2007 to 2009 during the first week of September. The name is derived from the Irish language phrase meaning "beside the sea". It was notable as Ireland's first surfing and music festival and was a joint project between MCD Productions, MCD and Sony Ericsson. In its inaugural year, 2007, Cois Fharraige was a commercial success, with a reported 20,000 attendees. Strong line-ups and the novelty of the surf-music concept helped sustain attendance through 2008. However, the 2009 edition saw a sharp decline in ticket sales, attributed to a late announcement and ongoing economic factors, and proved to be the final edition of the festival. 2007 festival The 2007 event took place from 7–9 September in Kilkee, County Clare. The Zutons
The Zutons are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool, in 2002. The band currently consists of Dave McCabe (vocals, guitar), Abi Harding (saxophone), Jay Lewis (guitar), Neil Bradley (keyboards) and Tim Cunningham (bass). The band's debut album, '' Who Killed...... The Zutons?'', was released in April 2004. With the release of their second studio album, '' Tired of Hanging Around'' (2006), the band achieved UK chart success with the singles, " Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?" and " Valerie", both of which reached number 9 on the UK Singles Chart. Supergrass
Supergrass are an English rock band formed in 1993. For the majority of the band's tenure, the line-up consisted of brothers Gaz (lead vocals, guitar) and Rob Coombes (keyboards), Mick Quinn (bass, backing vocals) and Danny Goffey (drums, backing vocals). Originally a three-piece, the band was officially joined by Rob Coombes in 2002. The band signed to Parlophone Records in 1994 and produced '' I Should Coco'' (1995), the best-selling debut album for the label since the Beatles' '' Please Please Me''. Their first album's fourth single, " Alright", was an international hit. Travis (band)
Travis are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1990, and composed of Fran Healy (musician), Fran Healy (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dougie Payne (bass guitar, backing vocals), Andy Dunlop (lead guitar, banjo, backing vocals), and Neil Primrose (musician), Neil Primrose (drums, percussion). Sam Newton Battenberg Faulkner (born 11 January 1985) is an English singer-songwriter and musician from Reigate, Surrey. He is known for his percussive style of guitar playing. In 2007 Faulkner's debut studio album ''Hand Built by Robots'' was certified double platinum in the United Kingdom. The album topped the UK Albums Chart in August 2007. Delorentos
Delorentos are a Dublin-based Irish alternative rock band, formed in 2005. They consist of Rónan Yourell (vocals, guitar, piano), Kieran McGuinness (vocals, guitar), Níal Conlan (bass, backing vocals) and Ross McCormick (drums, backing vocals). The band's debut album '' In Love with Detail'' was critically acclaimed in Ireland, being nominated for the Choice Music Prize and in the Best Irish Album category at the 2007 Meteor Awards, at which Delorentos were also nominated for Best New Irish Band. The Kinetiks
The Kinetiks were a Meteor Award-nominated Irish rock, pop and indie musical ensemble from Dublin. They were vocalist and guitarist Gaz Harding, guitarist Sean Brennan, bassist Jim McGuire, and drummer Paul Donohoe. On 11 July 2008, they performed their biggest show thus far at Oxegen 2008 where they appeared second on the Green Room stage following Dirty Epics and prior to The Saw Doctors. 28 Costumes, also known as the Cossies, are a Liverpool pop band. They signed to Spank Records in late 2003 and released four singles and an album with the label. Their album, ''The Fake Death Experience'' was reviewed positively in, amongst other publications, ''The Independent'' and ''Artrocker'' magazine. The band have since released the EP ''Electrical Fever'' on Invicta Hi Fi Records, and self-released the single "Erika" / "Death Mask". Paddy Casey
Paddy Casey is an Irish singer-songwriter from Crumlin, Dublin. Biography He received his first guitar when he was 12 and left home soon after and began busking and gigging for about 12 years. At about the age of 24 he was approached by Sony A&R Scout Hugh Murray at the International Bar in Dublin, while performing at the singer/songwriter night hosted by Dave Murphy. Sony gave Casey some studio time in Sun Studios Dublin where he recorded 9 tracks in 2 days. Sony decided that they liked the tracks so much that they wanted to release them as they were. They offered Paddy a recording contract. He was signed by Sony, and was eventually taken in by U2's management company, Principle Management. Majella Murphy is a Kilkenny born singer–songwriter with critical acclaim. Born in 1973 she released one album in 2007 "Brave new world", the first album globally to be released on a mobile phone by Sony Ericsson.
