Coincidence And Likely Stories
''Coincidence and Likely Stories'' (1992) is an album by Buffy Sainte-Marie, her first in sixteen years, during which time she had been raising her son and working on the children's television show ''Sesame Street''. The album itself was largely recorded at Sainte-Marie's home before being sent to producer Chris Birkett for the final production and mixing in London. The album showed her continuing with the electronic music she had first developed on '' Illuminations'' and the tribal themes seen on '' Sweet America'', her last pre-retirement album. The album received favourable reviews and some saw it as her best work since '' Illuminations''. Although it failed to chart in the United States, it became her only album to chart in the UK, and featured two minor hit singles there. Buffy Sainte-Marie (born Beverley Jean Santamaria; February 20, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and social activist. Sainte-Marie's singing and writing repertoire includes subjects of love, war, religion, and mysticism, and her work has often focused on issues facing Indigenous peoples of the United States and Canada. She has won recognition, awards, and honors for her music as well as her work in education and social activism. In 1983, her co-written song " Up Where We Belong", for the film '' An Officer and a Gentleman'', won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 55th Academy Awards. Cliff Eberhardt (born January 7, 1954, in Berwyn, Pennsylvania) is an American folk singer-songwriter. He is a founding member of the Fast Folk Music Cooperative in New York City. Eberhardt joined Red House Records in 1997 and has recorded five albums for the label, the most recent in 2009, ''500 Miles: The Blue Rock Sessions''. In 2011, he released an acoustic album of Doors songs, ''All Wood and Doors'', with fellow musician James Lee Stanley on Beechwood Recordings. Wounded Knee Massacre
The Wounded Knee Massacre, also known as the Battle of Wounded Knee, involved nearly three hundred Lakota people killed by soldiers of the United States Army. More than 250 people of the Lakota were killed and 51 wounded (4 men and 47 women and children, some of whom died later). Some estimates placed the number of dead as high as 300. Twenty-five U.S. soldiers also were killed and 39 were wounded (six of the wounded later died). Nineteen soldiers were awarded the Medal of Honor specifically for Wounded Knee, and overall 31 for the campaign. ''1200 Curfews'' is a live album by the Indigo Girls, released in 1995. Most of the recordings come from their 1994–95 tour to support the Swamp Ophelia album; seven are from the 1992–93 tour to support the album Rites of Passage.
