Coelognathus Helena Monticollaris
''Coelognathus helena monticollaris'' is subspecies of nonvenomous constricting snake in the family Colubridae. The subspecies is native to the Western ghats of India. Description ''C. h. monticollaris'' is a narrow-headed slender snake with a beautiful colouration. The light brown body is adorned with black and white transverse stripes, unlike ''C. h. helena'' which has dark brown and white spots. The head is greenish brown with black markings. The true purpose of this colouration is camouflage. Recently, albinism has been reported in this subspecies. Habitat The preferred habitat of ''C. h. monticollaris'' is forests, but it may frequently venture towards human habitation and occasionally enter human dwellings. Behaviour ''C. h. monticollaris'' is diurnal and highly active. It has a very nasty temper and will strike repeatedly if molested. Ornithology In ornithology, the lore is the region between the eye and bill on the side of a bird's head. This region is sometimes featherless, and the skin may be tinted, as in many species of the cormorant family. This area, which is directly in front of the eye, features a "loral stripe" in many bird species including the red-capped plover. Herpetology In amphibians and reptiles, lore pertains to the regions immediately adjacent to the eyes and between the eyes and nostrils.
