CodeIgniter is a free and open-source software rapid development web framework, for use in building dynamic web sites with PHP. Popularity CodeIgniter is loosely based on the popular model–view–controller (MVC) development pattern. While controller classes are a necessary part of development under CodeIgniter, models and views are optional. CodeIgniter can be also modified to use Hierarchical Model View Controller (HMVC) which allows the developers to maintain modular grouping of Controller, Models and View arranged in a sub-directory format. CodeIgniter is most often noted for its speed when compared to other PHP frameworks. EllisLab was a software development company based in Santa Barbara, California. In November 2018, the company was acquired by Digital Locations. Open Software License
The Open Software License (OSL) is a software license created by Lawrence Rosen. The Open Source Initiative (OSI) has certified it as an open-source license, but the Debian project judged version 1.1 to be incompatible with the DFSG. The OSL is a copyleft license, with a termination clause triggered by filing a lawsuit alleging patent infringement.
