Club de Lyon FC is an American professional soccer club based in Orlando, Florida, that plays in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA), on the third tier of the United States soccer league system. History The club began operations as a semi-professional side that was part of the inaugural season of NISA Nation, as well as the Premier division of UPSL. After a highly successful 2022 season, in which it won the Florida Region championship of NISA Nation, and went undefeated in the regular season of UPSL, the club applied to join NISA's professional league, and was officially accepted in November 2022, to begin play in the 2023 season. Daytona Stadium
Daytona Stadium, is a 9,601-seat multi-purpose stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida, built in 1988 and home to the Bethune–Cookman University Wildcats football team. It is also used to host home games for the Mainland High School and Seabreeze High School football teams. The stadium is also known as Larry Kelly Field, a name honoring former Daytona Beach Mayor Lawrence J. Kelly. History Until the end of the 2009 Bike Week season, the stadium hosted the AMA Flat Track motorcycle championships during Daytona Beach Bike Week. When the city took the track down as part of changes to the stadium, those races moved to a new dirt track at Daytona International Speedway. The National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States. The league is in the third tier of American soccer and began play in 2019. NISA initially used a fall-to-spring season format with a winter break but have switched to spring-to-fall which is more common in the United States. History League beginnings On June 6, 2017, it was announced that the newly formed National Independent Soccer Association would begin play in 2018 targeting an initial 8 to 10 teams, later revised to 8 to 12 teams. The United States soccer league system is a series of professional and amateur soccer leagues based, in whole or in part, in the United States. Sometimes called the American soccer pyramid, teams and leagues are not linked by the system of promotion and relegation typical in soccer elsewhere. Instead, the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) defines professional leagues in three levels, called divisions, with all other leagues sanctioned by the USSF not having an official designated level or division. NISA Nation is a semi-professional men's soccer league in the United States. The league is below the professional leagues in the United States soccer league system and began play in 2021. NISA Nation is affiliated with the third tier professional league National Independent Soccer Association. Expansion The league is composed by clubs from New Jersey, Maryland, California, Delaware, New York, Nevada, Arizona, Massachusetts, Florida and Pennsylvania. On August 25, 2021, Atlantic City FC was announced as the first club of the newly formed league. United Premier Soccer League
The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is an American soccer league that was founded in Santa Ana in Southern California, with teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States, and recently Canada and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds FC President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles, but expanded to include 400 teams from 41 states as of the 2022 season. Two seasons are played each year, with regional play culminating in a playoff system that crowns a single national champion each season.
