''Club O'Connor'' is a Canadian music variety television series which aired on CBC Television in 1957. Premise This series featured pianist Billy O'Connor with a house band of Jackie Richardson (leader, bass), Vic Centro (accordion), Ken Gill (guitar), Johnny Lindon (drums, vocals) and Sylvia Murphy (vocals). Musical arrangements were created by Bill Isbister. Jack Duffy
Jack Duffy (September 27, 1926 – May 19, 2008) was a Canadian singer, comedian and actor. Life and career Duffy was born in Montreal and raised in Toronto, and had one sister, Violet Duffy. He dropped out of Central Technical School to become a singer. At age 19, he was hired as a studio singer with CBC in Toronto and in 1948, he started a three-year affiliation with Tommy Dorsey, initially as a member of the vocal group Bob-O-Links. Duffy was performing as a member of the musical act the Town Criers in 1950 and would frequently appear on CBC-TV variety shows through the 1950s. In 1957, he was hired by Norman Jewison to appear as a comedian on the CBC series ''Showtime''. Duffy had his own CBC variety show called '' Here's Duffy'' that ran from June 1958 through October 1959. Joey Hollingsworth
Joey Hollingsworth is a Black Canadian tap dancer, singer, and conga player who has performed on stage and screen throughout the world. He appeared regularly on Canadian television shows from the 1950s through the 1970s. Hollingsworth, an adoptee, began dancing at the age of three, and turned professional at age five. Hollingsworth was listed as being 10 years old when he was Page One news in The Free Press on Nov. 23, 1946. The story told of his backstage meeting with dance legend Bill (Bojangles) Robinson the previous night (Nov. 22, 1946) at the old London Arena (since demolished). "Let's see you do a little step," Robinson told the youngster. "Say, son, that's great. Where did you learn that?" Robinson said after the young Joey offered a few steps. ''La famille Plouffe'' was a Canadian television drama, more specifically a téléroman, about a Quebec City family that first aired in the French language on Société Radio-Canada in 1953. The show was created to fill a void in francophone television in Canada. Whereas the English Canadian television branch of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation could broadcast English-language shows from American stations, the francophone component of the CBC, Radio-Canada had to develop its own programs for French Canadian viewers from the earliest days of television in Canada. This show was one of the few that helped to launch the téléroman genre of programming in French Canada, around the same time the first telenovelas aired in Latin America.
