The Cloverdale archaeological site ( 23BN2) is an archaeological site located near present-day St. Joseph, Missouri. It is situated at the mouth of a small valley that opens into the Missouri River. Cloverdale is a census-designated place (CDP) in southern Botetourt County, Virginia, United States. The population was 3,410 at the 2020 census. The community is located along State Route 654. It is part of the Roanoke metropolitan area. History Cloverdale began as an Iron Furnace Plantation consisting of an iron furnace and forests for lumber to produce charcoal. Robert Stoner, Botetrout County Historian states that Robert Harvey began to develop this area as a furnace as early as 1787. Geography Cloverdale is located at (37.361008, −79.904575) in Botetourt County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.1 square miles (8.1 km2), all land. Westford is a town in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,062 at the 2020 census. History The area that is today described as Westford, Vermont originally fell within the traditional territories of the Sokoki, Missisquoi, and Cowasuck bands of the Western Abenaki tribes. Newly introduced infectious diseases and attacks by English settlers greatly impacted native populations and prompted their emigration to Quebec by the 1670s, opening the land for settlement by European immigrants. The original charter for the Town of Westford was granted at a cost of by New Hampshire's provisional governor Benning Wentworth on June 8, 1763, as part of a series of what came to be known as New Hampshire Grants. According to Wentworth's grant, six lots were set aside (3 for religious use, 1 for the town's school, and 2 for Wentworth himself) and the remainder of the land was subdivided among the founding residents. Cloverdale, Lane County, Oregon
Cloverdale is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is approximately northeast of Creswell on Oregon Route 222. Cloverdale was the site of one of the first sawmills in Lane County, built in 1851. A gristmill was added in 1852. A townsite was laid out at Cloverdale in 1855, but the plat was later canceled. Cloverdale was considered a "thing of the past" as early as 1884. At one time Cloverdale had a store, and a school, and a blacksmith forge. The former Cloverdale Methodist Episcopal Church now serves as a wedding chapel. The church was built in 1904, and later served Baptist and Mennonite congregations and then as a community hall. The building was purchased by the McKinlay family in 1999 and restored. The school building, constructed in 1911, is also still standing. Cloverdale, Deschutes County, Oregon
Cloverdale is an unincorporated community in Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. It is located about five miles east of Sisters, on Oregon Route 126. In the late 19th century, Cloverdale became important stop on the A. J. Warrin Road, an alternative route to the Santiam Wagon Road on the way to Prineville. The community provided services for travelers and local homesteaders, with a store, blacksmith shop, and facilities for camping and boarding horses. By the 1920s or 1930s, the route fell into disuse and the buildings either fell down, were torn down, or moved. Cloverdale was named by R. A. Ford, a local farmer who was also a teacher and a county school superintendent. He surveyed the nearby Cloverdale Ditch, which is parallel to Whychus Creek Whychus Creek is a tributary of the Deschutes River in Deschutes and Jefferson counties in the U.S. state of Oregon.
