Clovelly Park Railway Station
Clovelly Park railway station was a railway station located on the Flinders line in the south-western Adelaide suburb of Mitchell Park. History Chrysler Park station, named after the adjoining car factory, opened on 1 July 1966 when the Tonsley line was branched from the Noarlunga Centre line at Ascot Park. The station was located immediately north of the level crossing at Alawoona Avenue. On 26 June 1987 it was renamed ''Clovelly Park'' after Chrysler Australia and its factory was acquired by Mitsubishi Motors Australia. Mitchell Park, South Australia
Mitchell Park is a suburb south of Adelaide. It shares common boundaries with Marion, Bedford Park, Clovelly Park, and Ascot Park. In recent years it has undergone major redevelopments through a program of urban renewal which included the renovation of many properties owned by the former South Australian Housing Trust. Flinders Railway Station
Flinders railway station is the terminus of the Flinders line in the southern Adelaide suburb of Bedford Park. It serves the adjacent Flinders Medical Centre precinct and Flinders University. History A rail extension to Flinders Medical Centre had been mooted in July 2008, with the State Government commissioning a feasibility study, but nothing eventuated. In May 2016, as part of the Liberal Party's campaign for the federal election later that year, $43 million in funding was promised towards extending the Tonsley line. The extension, known as the ''Flinders Link Project'', was built concurrently with the adjacent Darlington Upgrade on the Southern Expressway and is located to the east of the expressway and local service roads; a rail overpass and pedestrian bridge connects the existing rail corridor and the new station. Tonsley Railway Station
Tonsley railway station is located on the Flinders line in the south-western Adelaide suburb of Tonsley, 12.2 kilometres from Adelaide station. The original station was 13 kilometres from Adelaide and was the terminus of the line from its opening in 1966 until the station's closure in 2019; the station was then relocated to its current position and opened in 2020. History The original station opened on 1 July 1966 when the Tonsley line opened. Trains operated between 07:00 and 19:00 on weekdays, with no weekend services. The Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS) has been a railway organisation concerned with history and preservation of railway heritage at a national level. It has had divisions in every state and the Australian Capital Territory, although the ACT division was wound up in 2016, along with the Victorian division in 2020. Since 1967, when each division incorporated, the state divisions operated as separate entities. Each still trades under the ARHS brand, except in Western Australia, where the division is called Rail Heritage WA. Individual membership exceeds 2,500.
